Why are ‘Hobbies’ so top secret on Mn?

😂Always when someone talks about a hobby on here, it’s never said what the hobby is and a reason for this is often that it’s ‘Outing’
I honestly can’t think of that many hobbies and especially ones that should be kept secret or are especially outing, it’s such a mystery!

Is it just me 🤷🏻‍♀️

There was a great thread a few months, years or decades ago where a poster was complaining about a man who was rubbish at the "hobby" and was trying to take over.

Loads and loads of posters were asking for the hobby as it couldn't be that unique.

In exasperation she said what it was ... and it was unique!! It was something like a 17th century string instruments band.

I mean they played 17th century music not they from the 17th century! Because that would definitely be unique.

The guy was absolutely terrible at playing and spoiled the whole group.

Anyway every time I read "outing hobby" I think of that thread!!

I remember that, he was absolutely rubbish and kept telling the others they were doing it wrong?

Ended up being an interesting thread about her hobby. Can't remember what they did with man. They wanted to do paid gigs but he was so awful they couldn't.

Does anyone remember a man complaining on MN about his girlfriend's hobby taking up too much time? It turned out to be sailing solo across the Atlantic in a particular race. That really was outing!
