Why armed police and no arrests’

ForFunWriter · 17/08/2025 00:35

My neighbours have got two sons that are 18 and 20. The younger one has been involved in something as he’s been stopped and searched (ok no biggie) but twice now he’s had police go to his house. First was tasers, now armed police. no nosie, went to back and front door, took him into the van, into the ambulance and than back into the house. 20 armed forces at least.

anyone know what he could be involved in?

I don’t know if he’s drug grooming etc as I did watch a doco about it

Is this a serious question?

JacquesHarlow · 17/08/2025 00:44

What has your neighbour volunteered or shared to you @ForFunWriter when you asked them?

… yeah. Didn’t think so.

YABU.

I am not sure anyone on mn has that much police intel to know and if they did i presume they cant freely say anything anyway

Yes it is

do you not think it’s a bit weird having armed police on your door

Well obviously it's weird.

It's weirder that you think we might know the reason why.

It's a l whole lot more weird expecting random people on Mumsnet to know what he's suspected of.

Why? Just because you haven’t experience than others do. Lots work on armed forces or have experience or knowledge like nhs social services etc

I mean I know that most of your police are not armed, correct? My first thought would be that whatever they think he's done they think that he is armed and so they're protecting themselves but I don't think anyone on here would know for sure.

Which is weird they let him go in the ambulance and than in the house. Took about three hours in total for them to leave

Yes police aren’t armed… not sure about tasers but this was normal police and police with guns, the special ones

There's no-one on here that can't suggest anything that Google can't.

Sorry, we're being a bit mean I know, but however much experience someone has they're not going to know what this particular guy is suspected of having done, other than something serious and violent! There's a long list of possible offences.

Surely if you are suspected of doing something to warrant armed police you would be taken to the station?

Perhaps the person they wanted to arrest was not on the premises.

They were I think. They took him into the police van. Than the ambulance. Than into his house for a 2 hour chat. He was handcuffed and I don’t think they can do that unless you’ve been detained

If it’s that common why are you posting about this particular one, and not any of your other neighbours who were arrested by armed police today?
