Does anyone else still love nightclubbing on holiday in their 50’s?

I would NEVER go night clubbing at home. It’s probably been 15 years since I was in a club in the UK. However, when I am on holiday, I absolutely love it! I know it isn’t the same. When we go on holiday to all inclusive hotels that have a nightclub I literally dance there until they close. We have just booked a trip to Goa in India And the place that we have booked is really busy with loads of nightclubs and I will definitely be going. But I would never do this at home. I am 55. Is anyone else the same?

Well that sounds fabulous. I'm pondering Ibiza for my 50th. In the UK I like going to day time outdoor music events that finish at 11pm now 👌 😂

Hernameisdeborah · 16/08/2025 20:28

YANBU. I can imagine spending a summer night clubbing in a gorgeous location abroad would be fabulous and totally different to being in a nightclub in grotty Britain. Have a brilliant time!

Lmnop22 · 16/08/2025 20:28

I wish I had the stamina to do this but I’m in my 30s and in bed by 10pm 😂

Love that you’re letting your hair down and doing something you love on holiday though - never stop!

Zanatdy · 16/08/2025 20:29

I’m 48 and haven’t been to a nightclub in years, and can’t imagine anything worse

something2say · 16/08/2025 20:29

Hi!! I am not the same as you.

I DO go clubbing at home, and I am almost 51!!!! I've always been a music lover and age hasn't stopped that. I can no longer jump up and down for three hours, but I can definitely dance all night. I pace myself and go home when ready, and I've had to as I age, but I still blast music at home, in the car, on Friday nights, and I regularly go to music events of all kinds so I encourage you to go at home in your normal life too. Music venues are full of 'our type of people', other music lovers who are aging just like me. It's not teenagers etc.

Have a brilliant holiday.

I'm 53 and going to Greece next month with my friend....hell yeah we're going to set those dancefloors alight 💃🍹

Ohlifelife · 16/08/2025 20:39

Sounds like hell on earth to me.

mindutopia · 16/08/2025 20:41

To an actual nightclub, no. But I went to a sober silent disco recently (also women only) and it was fab. Being able to dance, with only women and no one drunk or high and spilling their drink on you was wonderful.

Maybe being abroad brings out the best in us!!

You don't stop dancing and loving music just because your 50

Age UK do daytime discos now that tells you something.

SoLongMae · 16/08/2025 20:58

I don't understand your AIBU; sounds fantastic! I haven't been clubbing in the UK since pre-Covid, but DP and I went to Belgrade in June and absolutely loved clubbing there. Enjoy your trip to Goa!

This makes me think of Neil in the Inbetweeners movie.

I go on cruises with my girlfriends and we are all in our 50s/60s. We are in the nightclub onboard the ship every night and we love the silent disco. Absolutely makes our holiday. Haven't been in a nightclub back at home though for over 20 years!

FakeMews · 16/08/2025 21:12

Not clubbing exactly but I do choose places where I can see live music. I'm 67 and never really go out at home. I live in a village without even a pub. The most exciting thing I do is go to a restaurant to meet adult DC. In bed by 10 every night.

On holiday I love to go somewhere with a lively vibe and watch a band. I don't ( or rather can't) drink much and I'm usually in bed before midnight. Went to Corralejo recently and loved it.

Rocknrollstar · 16/08/2025 21:15

I’m in my 70s and I love dancing on holiday. I started the dancing in the bar of our hotel last year. and as my DD says, there was no dance floor. I went on a river cruise with a friend and she went to bed while I danced with the captain in the disco. Let’s all have fun!

Ahwig · 16/08/2025 21:49

I’m 63 and my husband and I go to Butlins 70’s weekend. It’s full of 70’s bands and 70’s disco and people our age. We dance all night for 3 nights. It’s fabulous ( albeit in knackering). My son has been to the 00’s one and asked me what trouble there is when we go. Err nothing, yes some people get drunk but it’s all , after you no after you and the security guards must be bored witless. My son said when he goes the security guards are quite busy and on one occasion the DJ got arrested during his set.
Us over 60’s and late 50’s know how to party still.

No but for a lot of people their taste in music changes.
I listen to, and love, mainly classical music now. I still listen to some rock and pop and folk and blues etc from my younger days but I cant be bothered with a lot of the alleged " music" churned out these days.

Gladysknightjustwalkinmyshoes · 16/08/2025 22:09

The Northern soul contingent are mid 50s plus and the ravers of late 80s ,90s would be late 40s, early 50s now both scenes have never disappeared and still going strong.

WimpoleHat · 16/08/2025 22:11

Honestly? No! I’m with @Zanatdy on this one. But if you enjoy it, you go for it and have a fabulous time. I think one of the best things about getting older is worrying less about what others are doing or thinking and more about what you actually want for yourself. So happy clubbing!

Topseyt123 · 17/08/2025 08:16

Sounds like hell on earth to me. I'm in my late 50s.

HelpMeGetThrough · 17/08/2025 09:06

Sounds like my idea of hell.

I’m 53 and haven’t been to a nightclub for almost 30 years and never enjoyed it when I did.

Never and still don’t understand dancing and the point of it.

Swiftie1878 · 17/08/2025 09:07

Worst nightmare. No.

NOresponsibility · 17/08/2025 12:22

Im 38 and like you op when on holiday i love it no plans to stop either.
Now im older i feel more confident the things ive done my mother would be a shamed of me.

OversteppingEx · 17/08/2025 12:36

Not clubbing as such but I'm happy with a bar with a dance floor towards the end of the night after there has been lots of conversation and a nice meal. 😬

Its not often I dance now but when I do I just love it.

RosesAndHellebores · 17/08/2025 12:43

I occasionally went to a nightclub in London in my 20s. I have never been to a nightclub on holiday. DS goes lives clubbing.

DH dislikes them slightly less than me but because I don't like the lights and the dark, the crowd and the noise, we have never been.
