To feel a bit sick when looking at certain celebs?

EllyRoff · 14/08/2025 06:48

I have a weird thing where certain people make me feel physically sick/Uneasy. It’s mainly celebrities or people in the public eye.

One example is Jeremy Corbyn. Nothing to do with his politics - it’s something about him.

My latest one is Danny Dyer - especially with a moustache.

Anyone else get this?

Graham Norton used to make me feel physically ill and I don’t know why.

Rylan, David Walliams and Jimmy Carr all make me feel a bit sick too. They remind me of ventriloquist’s dummies.

I have a lot of strong reactions to certain words and names too. They can make me feel ill or agitated. I’m not sure if it’s related to my autism.

Speaking of ventriloquist’s dummies, he doesn't make me feel sick, but Cillian Murphy looks like one to me. I'm baffled by the many people I know who have the hots for him.
Although, having said that, he has a beautiful voice, and he was great when he did those music shows on 6 Music.

I loved Rivals but didn't find Rupert attractive but he did look rakish and posh. In real life do posh looking & sexy go?

Pedro Pascal - used to be pretty ambivalent about him then saw him pawing over his female co-stars to manage his “anxiety” and his face now makes me feel 🤢

This 100%. I used to fancy him, now he makes my skin crawl

CalzoneOnLegs · 14/08/2025 10:13

@LittleBitofBread its been reported as so

www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2015/apr/10/mad-men-star-jon-hamm-was-charged-with-hazing-in-college-days

wwyd2021medicine · 14/08/2025 10:13

Stephen Fry has always made my skin crawl.

rolloverbeethoven · 14/08/2025 10:13

And that was a weird coincidence, @CalzoneOnLegs!

John Travolta. It’s the chin

A bum chin. Please look up Gordon ramsay kitchen nightmares for fiesta sunrise and watch the owners daughter husband come in. He has the exact same face and bum chin.

Belladog1 · 14/08/2025 10:14

Nick Knowles is the one for me. I can't stand to look at him as he creeps me out.

Prince Andrew is another - and I have always felt that way before the recent scandals.

For women I have an intense reaction to Carol the weathergirl on BBC Breakfast and Carol (I'm so young) Vorderman.

John Torode. I've felt like that for years, before the shenanigans!

I am the same, particularly when he takes a mouthful of food and his big, meaty tongue comes out 🤮

Cilla Black and Nicole Kidman. Both demonic.

Yes, Nicole kidman is awful. She's a proper slut in Paddington

LittleBitofBread · 14/08/2025 10:14

CalzoneOnLegs · 14/08/2025 10:13

Fuck me, that's upsetting.
I've always thought he was gorgeous, and funny and smart too Sad
I hope he feels remorse and has changed.

Benedict Cumberbatch. I cannot watch anything if he is on it, can't stand to look at his face

Oh god yes, he gives me the heebie jeebies.
He does resemble a person that I know who had a very negative impact on our lives last year which doesn’t help. In fact I sometimes wonder if they share some genes somewhere as they are that alike 😬

Branster · 14/08/2025 10:16

Current top of my list is JD Vance, from the very first time I saw him on TV and didn't actually know who he was.
There are a lot I dislike in a similar way but I can't explain why. Maybe they are not photogenic or maybe there is something unkind or creepy about the way they move or look. No idea. It has nothing to do with being good looking or not.

I've always found the women in the Kardashian family exhausting to look at. I can't quite explain it but there's so much to each of them regardless of size or age. All I see is a mass of teeth, hair, boobs and bums on full show out of proportion and without any coordination between each element and the person who owns these parts. All covered in some slimy glitter and shine (must be the makeup and lighting).
Nothing wrong with each of these women in the way they look and they are photogenic as well, I'm not fussed about what they wear either, it's just as soon as they become adults this transformation happens into exhausting caricatures that my brain can't read as standard human beings. There's too much visual noise with zero balance.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 14/08/2025 10:16

Oh actually I have thought of one, Matt Baker.

Again he's probably great IRL but he comes over as nice to the point of saccharine and genuinely makes me feel a bit sick. I always feel even if he were a serial killer he'd do it with a rictus grin.

Yoby · 14/08/2025 10:17

Margaret Thatcher
Cliff Richard
Gregg Wallace
And a bit more niche Adrian Lewis and Ted Hankey

DinaofCloud9 · 14/08/2025 07:13

I'm not like this with faces but I am with voices. I can't listen to some people.

Yes Angela Raynor. Have to switch the radio off.

SecretNameAsImShy · 14/08/2025 10:19

Natasha Kaplinski
Sian Lloyd
Trump
Boris Johnson

No idea why, they just do!

CalzoneOnLegs · 14/08/2025 10:19

@LittleBitofBread I imagine he was shitting himself in case it was reported now he’s famous…..didn’t surprise me at all, he looks like an arrogant bully to me !

CustardySergeant · 14/08/2025 10:19

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 14/08/2025 10:10

He looks a bit like a ventriloquists dummy (as does Stephen Mulhearn) imo 😂

I always think Professor Brian Cox looks like a ventriloquist's dummy.

CalzoneOnLegs · 14/08/2025 10:20

@CustardySergeant its those slimy red lips

Discoprincess6 · 14/08/2025 10:22

Dominic Cooper think that’s his name. The guy who plays Noah in the Affair.

LadyBracknellsHandbagg · 14/08/2025 10:22

Boris Johnson, I can’t look at him or hear him speak, it’s revulsion and rage all mixed in!

LittleBitofBread · 14/08/2025 10:23

CalzoneOnLegs · 14/08/2025 10:11

@LittleBitofBread its the facial symmetry thing, same as why people recoil at Dominic Cumberbatch his eyes are really far apart

Dominic West? or Benedict Cumberbatch?

I irrationally dislike Dominic West ever since I read a column where the journalist said she'd once interviewed a male actor who had brought a male friend along and they passed comments 'disguised' as a cough about her boobs. For some reason in my head that was him, and I've disliked him for it ever since.
TOTALLY unreasonable, I know Grin

Dominic West - he’s been mentioned multiple times which is fascinating to me as I have a visceral reaction to his face, I woudknt say ‘sick’ more frightened but it’s a strong reaction.

You've reminded me Noel Fielding has that effect on me too. Totally creeps me out even though I've never heard anyone say a bad word about him. It's not that aggressive macho vibe I usually hate so I don't know what it is. He just seems so entirely fake, I can't read him.

There's quite a lot online about Noel Fielding's behaviour towards young female fans.
