To feel a bit sick when looking at certain celebs?

EllyRoff · 14/08/2025 06:48

I have a weird thing where certain people make me feel physically sick/Uneasy. It’s mainly celebrities or people in the public eye.

One example is Jeremy Corbyn. Nothing to do with his politics - it’s something about him.

My latest one is Danny Dyer - especially with a moustache.

Anyone else get this?

Elton John but I know someone who was abused by him he won’t talk much about it but it ruined his life.

EJs got bad energy, saw him 20 years ago in Shoreditch, horrible look on his mug.

I got this with Keith Barron (not sure if he's still alive)

Wow. I really hope he is able to report it one day

Yep, same.

And the lead ‘singers’ of Black Lace and Smokie.

Just look like central-casting perverts.

Jarvis Cocker
Made me feel ill years ago when I first saw him on TOTP. Then when he opened his mouth and sang "you were the first girl at school to get breasts...I had to work to try to get you undressed.." or something similar, I could have honestly thrown up. I have to turn the radio over if he comes on. May well be a nice person, but I find him revolting, creepy and vomit-inducing.

The line is 'I had to watch them try to get you undressed'

The point is the narrator is in love with Deborah, but because he's not one of the cool, 'grown-up' boys he's excluded ('We were friends, that was as far as it went/I used to walk you home sometimes, but it meant/Oh, it meant nothing to you/'Cause you were so popular').

It's a sad, sweet song about a teenage boy who's on the outside.

Elton John has this effect on me. I physically recoil when I see a picture of him and I’m not sure why.

Funnily enough I don’t mind him at all, but David furniture popped up on my socials as someone I might know- friend of friend- and I was shooketh. I don’t know what it is but don’t like him at all

I know what you mean about Grace Dent, she looks proper hard like she'd want to fight you in a pub if you looked at her wrong, but I don't think she's actually like that at all. I read her book, about her childhood, young adult life and her relationship with her parents, especially as they aged and became unwell and she seems like an absolute sweetheart. I think you have to watch her or read her for a while to get the measure of her.

I love the fact that Grace Dent doesn’t look sweet or soft in photos or on film. She’s one of the few women I regularly see in print and on TV etc who doesn’t seem to be always smiling or trying to look in other ways ‘compliant’, for want of a better word.
And yes, when you watch her or listen to her (her podcast Comfort Eating is a riot), she comes across as very humane, hilarious and quite emotional.

I've thought of another one. That 'comedian' from the 80s? 90s? whose catchphrase was "It's a puppet!" Can't remember his name but just the sight of his smug looking face would make me feel quite violent. Again, I think it was his mouth.

My son thought that about Sandi Toksvig before he worked with her in the theatre. Having met her he says she’s a lovely person with no ego whatsoever

Not what I’ve heard from several people in the TV industry. Very difficult to work with and caused a lot of friction on GBBO.

Fountofwisdom · 22/08/2025 00:19

Jimmy Carr. Repulsive. Both his shiny smug face and his fkin awful fake laugh 🤮

David Tennant. And there's a guy on Instagram who's videos always pop up on my feed where he talks about how much he loves big women etc, he's Scottish also actually - so am I, it's not some weird anti-Scottish vibe! They both make me feel sick.

Pedro Pascal also, I thought he was amazing as Oberyn in GoT but he's prickled my skin ever since. There are a lot of memes based on him and I so want to like them and laugh at them but it's just something in the pit of my stomach.

JD Vance.

Me too with Daniel the Scotsman, I snoozed him from my news feed yesterday because he was giving me the heebie jeebies (and I'm also Scottish)

Blondiney · 22/08/2025 11:07

Sarah Paulson, face like an incredibly creepy puppet.

Coffeeishot · 22/08/2025 11:12

@Pussert Oh I googled Daniel the Scotsman i didn't know his name but I had to block him from my reels ages ago, because he is a creepy fecker!
