And for whatever reason didn't report it to the police?

Someone knows come on out with it

(Question inspired by the thread about lunatic men assaulting women for no reason cos they think nothing will happen to them)

OP posts:

No needs to click on chat to see it, it's currently in active. So they would see it as they scroll the forum which is what I believe is the bit that's most widely used.

Jijithecat · 13/08/2025 13:15

The case being closed doesn't mean that's it, it just means they're not proactively investigating it at this time. If evidence relating to this incident comes to light then it would be looked at.

kim204 · 13/08/2025 13:18

I hadn't seen that video before, it's really shocking. I hope they find that disgusting man.

AdaColeman · 13/08/2025 13:08

I remember at the time being baffled that they were unable to track him down in central London via security cameras. With all the camera footage available to them they must surely I have been able to follow his route.

Well obviously not.

LindorDoubleChoc · 13/08/2025 13:27

I've said it several times before on Mumsnet on those "greatest mystery" threads - the fact that he was never found is absolutely baffling! I can't help but think maybe he was police and it was hushed up.

That is just spreading unsubstantiated rumours.

I find it sickening that this investigation has actually been closed. Apparently they’ve exhausted every avenue. Well no they haven’t as the beast is still out there. I can understand cases being closed after many decades but not 7 years. Look at the bloke that violated and murdered a young woman back in 1967? He’s only recently been convicted.

So they cant identify this MAN on CCTV yet its ok for Facewatch and Home Bargains to falsely accuse women of shoplifting.

Muffsies · 13/08/2025 13:39

Someone will know, pretty sure of that.

It reminds me a of a couple of occasions when I've been cycling to work and a guy coming the opposite way has suddenly decided to cycle right at me. It's an intimidation thing to see if they can make me move over (even though I'm on the left side nowhere near them).

Then one day I had one guy just lunge at me out of the blue because I didn't move, I only just managed to stay upright, if I'd gone over I would have tumbled down the bank into a ditch. I wonder how many other women he's done that to, or if he'd do it to someone near a road instead of a ditch.

I'm so glad I don't cycle that route any more.

Just had a look at the video again. There’s no way that nobody knows who this is - the video is so clear. Utterly sickening, and in light of the apparent increase in this behaviour at the moment, incredibly scary. It is a miracle that she wasn’t killed.

A policeman so undercover that not a single person recognises him? Doesn't sound very plausible to me

I think it's more likely he's a foreign diplomat or connected to intelligence, they would definitely 100% cover that up.

I think someone working for the police would be too difficult to cover up.

BitOutOfPractice · 13/08/2025 13:47

It’s really shocking, every time I watch it. It’s hard to believe nobody knows who it is.

Also, has anyone given that bus driver a bloody medal?

She said "I can't help but think. ", that's an opinion.

She didn't say, "I heard that..", that would be a rumour.

FenderStrat · 13/08/2025 13:57

That's just pure mental gymnastics.

As a cyclist I'd like to give several bus drivers medals from some of the things I've seen. I'd also like to give some taxi drivers a big raspberry and the V 😂

It's basic gcse comprehension skills.

FenderStrat · 13/08/2025 14:07

So I can say 'I can't help but think...' followed by any kind of accusation, and that will not start a rumour?

I'm very happy to test this here on Mumsnet.

LindorDoubleChoc · 13/08/2025 14:17

TheAmberFatball · 13/08/2025 12:56

Mumsnet has 8 million users. Not all will click on her post or see the post, but, yes a lot of people will see it if it happens to stay bumped in chat. It also used to skew very London centric though that's changed a bit on recent years.

This comes up time and time again. Mumsnet does not have 8 million users.

Ebenezerscrogge · 13/08/2025 14:29

Maybe someone does know who it was - but maybe they live in fear of this individual and were just too scared to do anything about it . It seems unlikely that someone that would do such a thing is sweetness and light to those around him

AdaColeman · 13/08/2025 13:08

I remember at the time being baffled that they were unable to track him down in central London via security cameras. With all the camera footage available to them they must surely I have been able to follow his route.

This! How on earth could all the cameras in London not find him?

EaglesSwim · 13/08/2025 14:31

It's noticeable that a man passed him a second or two before, but he didn't try and shove him under a bus!

I'm sure he passed women as well without pushing them. She wasn't especially in his way. It's incomprehensible.

Occams razor says he's foreign (Russia?) and didn't have close contact with any/many people in the UK while he was here. There weren't cameras on his route back to his accommodation.

So he left, nobody when knew him in his home country heard the story, and the few people he'd vaguely interacted in the UK didn't remember him well enough to recognise him. (Especially in different clothes.)

If his job involved giving presentations to rooms full of 50 people I'm sure he'd be recognised. If he was a tourist or installed a foreign dishwasher in a basement after a 2 minute chat with a security guard then I doubt anyone stared at his face for any length of time.

Whatever the explanation, it's unusual.

PermanentTemporary · 13/08/2025 14:36

He looked incredibly like my xh and I nearly reported that, but remembered in time that he looked like my xh 20 years before the incident happened.

I also feel certain that someone knows who he is (apart from himself obvs). And that it makes very little sense that they couldn’t at least publish some other sightings of him from the same morning. I would have thought he could have been up for attempted manslaughter which is surely serious enough to warrant a major investigation.
