I have moved back to my hometown…I went for a walk after dinner and I just fell in love all over again.
I walked out of my estate and made my way down to the end section of town, past the main hotel and b&b’s. There was a coach of people arriving at the hotel and the smell of dinner was in the air. The hustle and bustle was lovely.
I then passed through a mix of restaurants with more wonderful smells, all full with people sitting inside and out. It smelled amazing!!
Next was the amusement park and arcades, the music, the chiming sounds, the people laughing etc, the smell of cotton candy, and chocolate donuts.
Down along the prom where I passed lots of families some local and others on holiday, some eating fish and chips, others out for a walk, walking with families and their dogs etc.
the beach had people walking too, further out was a large group of people on a surf lesson.
…at the end of the prom there’s a row of cafes, restaurants and shops. People were sitting having a coffee, others coming back from a swim and dressed in dry robes.
The skate park was full of kids out practicing and having fun.
Up next was the mobile home holiday park, lots of families sitting out and kids out on their bikes and in the park.
After that was a long stretch that looked out over the strand and across to the next headland covered in fields. It was just beautiful 🙌
Back up around and to my estate. Just perfect!
I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I just felt so happy looking at everyone and everything around me, I thought it would be nice to have an appreciation thread. There’s enough negativity around at the moment.
please share your joys big or small 🥰

Duplicate post, sorry. However the link I showed above is a book set in that town.

I love where I life too. Mainly because I can get into central London in half an hour yet wake up to the view of cows in the farm opposite my bedroom window and the sound of the cockerel crowing. On Sundays I hear the trot of horses as children and adults take their riding lessons. Everyone has a dog (us too now!) and we all stop to chat. We only moved three miles down the road from our last home but there we were on a busy main road, sirens and boy racers always going up and down, so many crashes at the crossroads five doors up, a street full of flats, retirement homes and a school meant no one knew their neighbours much less stopped to talk.

we have a little woods just two minutes up the hill and it’s honestly like an Enid Blyton novel. Bluebell season is breathtaking and it’s currently overflowing with blackberries. We have apples, plums and pears growing in the garden as well as blackberries, raspberries and gooseberries. And when revamped the old greenhouse that the previous owner had neglected in his old age and have grown tomatoes this year too. I drive around and say out loud ‘I love it here’ and I really do. I can’t imagine ever wanting olive anywhere else. It’s a nice feeling.

I live on the side of a mountain and I glory in the views and scenery every day.The Rowan trees are glorious at this time of year and the purple heather is blooming, blackberries are the earliest I've ever known them to be.My heart absolutely sings and I never tire of the views.

Love the Waterford coast, OP. So many happy memories of holidays as a child.
