I am starting to think there is no such thing as a suitcase that is not in essence disposable. I've never had one survive more than two trips without being broken, normally the wheels. So sick of keep buying new suitcases.

Does anyone know of any where the wheels don't snap, or become unusable?

I've genuinely never known this to be an issue, suitcases last years regardless of how many trips they are used for. Where are you buying your cases from?

SeaToSki · 03/08/2025 09:43

I have a travelpro. Its survived years and years of long haul flights

chipsandpeas · 03/08/2025 09:43

what are you doing with them???

ive got a range of suitacses from home bargains to kipling and only ever had 1 wrecked suitcase and that was US TSA breaking hte lock

MidnightPatrol · 03/08/2025 09:44

Samsonite

2chocolateoranges · 03/08/2025 09:44

We have had our suitcases since 2022 and used them 2 or 3 times year since then and all ok. We bought them from Matalan , I’m sure they are called “it” and are soft cases as I have seen far too many of the hard shelled ones broken.

Tagyoureit · 03/08/2025 09:45

Eh?

My suitcases are second hand from my mum and I've had them at least 15 years!

DelilahBucket · 03/08/2025 09:45

Always used IT luggage and never had this problem.

Paaseitjes · 03/08/2025 09:45

What do you do to them?! Cheap ones don't last very long but should do more than 2 trips.

TickyandTacky · 03/08/2025 09:45

Got to be user error!

Ours last years, current ones about 25 trips. We usually get new ones for a different reason like needing a new size.

DurhamDurham · 03/08/2025 09:46

We bought some from Argos many years ago and they’re fine, used several times a year and they’re a bit scuffed in places but the wheels work absolutely fine.

Teenagerantruns · 03/08/2025 09:46

Our suitcases are so old l don't remember when we bought them, we travel probably on a plane 3 times a year. Plus uk holidays. One of the carry on handles is a bit dodgy other than that they fine. Where are you buying your cases?

DoNotBiteTheirHeadsOff · 03/08/2025 09:46

Antler - lifetime warranty, they go on and on.

WrylyAmused · 03/08/2025 09:46

What are you doing to your poor suitcases?

I buy the cheapest ones I can find - often Matalan IT as a pp said, and they've lasted me for years and years and many many trips...

And I'm not gentle, they get bumped down stairs on their wheels and all sorts. Normal suitcase wear and tear.

TimeForABreak4 · 03/08/2025 09:46

I've had my suitcases for over eight years and go abroad 2 to 3 times a years. They are still immaculate, we have IT ones.

legsekeven · 03/08/2025 09:47

But decent suitcase! Nine are about ten years old and good as new. Been used at least twice a year as well. Buy cheap but twice

helpfulperson · 03/08/2025 09:48

I have an ultralightweight IT one bought from B&M. It was cheap and I thought I'd be happy if I got two or three trips from it but eight trips later it is still going strong.

TheNightingalesStarling · 03/08/2025 09:49

The only reason I've retired my 15yo case is the fabric is worn around the seams so its rather tatty.. the case itself is functionally sound

whiteroseredrose · 03/08/2025 09:49

Crikey. We have cheap Aerolite ones that have been in regular use for 15 years or so. We don't often check bags in, which helps, but they have survive a few trips in the hold.

Movinghouseatlast · 03/08/2025 09:50

I've had my suitcases for 10 years. I used to travel every week for work so one of them in particular.has been wheeled round airports for miles and mles. I've only ever had one case break, that was broken by an airline and they replaced it.

I think any mid price case would last, you don't need to pay the earth. Mine is from TK Maxx. IT luggage is good.

Drivingthevengabus · 03/08/2025 09:53

We got our last cases years ago using some stamp collection offer with Tesco - so that tells you how long ago it was!! Just replaced them at the start of the year - they must have been easily 15 years old and would have done 2 trips a year probably - with at least one being air travel.

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 03/08/2025 09:55

We have Samsonite hard shell ones with no zips. They must be 10+ years old. Used many multiple times a year.
Luggage is one of those things that really is worth paying a little bit more for, as you will get your moneys worth.

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 03/08/2025 09:56

Eh? I’ve got suitcases in full working order that are older than my teenagers.

maowmaow · 03/08/2025 09:57

I’ve had Samsonite for more than 10 years, no issue

user2848502016 · 03/08/2025 09:57

I always buy Tripp ones and they last well.
I do also have a small one I bought probably 20 years ago and the handle is stuck in the “up” position but apart from that it’s fine!
I think you must be handling them roughly?!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/08/2025 09:57

Eastpak ones are good.
