Posting here for traffic!
My mum will be 80 next week, and i have no idea what to buy her. Been short on funds until today too so that hasn't helped.
No perfume, no jewellery, no clothes, no ornaments, isn't interested in spas, afternoon tea, days out, cant walk far, suffers from constant dizziness so doesn't watch tv, go far from home, doesn't really have any interests anymore. So I'm absolutely flummoxed, and dad has no idea either!

Dm was 80 a couple of years ago
She didn't want to go out and decided she'd like an afternoon tea at home. It was lovely with everyone bringing something eg victoria sponge, scones, egg and cress sandwiches, freshly made lemonade etc. Her and df have just come back from a 5000 mile road trip so it wasn't because of health issues.

I’m sorry to hear your mother is so unwell. My father has recently passed away and in the hospice someone would come every few weeks and give a hand and arm massage or a foot massage. He was very old fashioned and I doubt had ever had more than the odd physio session in his life but really enjoyed the relaxation of it especially as no need to disrobe or bath afterwards.
After initially resisting heavily he also got to grips with an Alexa and enjoyed being able to choose music or a radio station without having to move. We put together some playlists of his favourite musicians so they were also on hand.

my Mum was recently 80, she’s not someone who values fancy things or stuff. We had a surprise family party, all of her bothers and sisters and my siblings, her grandchildren and I.
At the end of the day I asked her if we had worn her out (shes had a few health problems recently and doesn’t like fuss or being the centre of attention) she replied that she was so full of happiness she couldn’t possibly be tired.
if it’s at all possible to have a gathering at home or the pub to show her how she is loved the “stuff” is secondary.
I'm sorry that she having such a tough time, you sound like a really thoughtful and kind daughter. Wishing you all a lovely celebration 🎉

I got my dad a newspaper from the day he was born for his 70th. If you can't get that, maybe get another special day such as wedding day

Thanks every, so I haven't been back sooner, I bought her some interesting teas from Sostrene Grene, a nice mug, a couple of small hanging ornaments, big bunch of flowers and an orchid plant from my little one
