Stay out all day or pop back home?

partyetiquette · 26/07/2025 09:11

Inspired by another thread.
I've realised that I am a stay put all day type person. If I've gor coffee at 10am with a friend, then an event at 2pm I would stay out and about In between, whereas my friend would always pop home if she can. I hate the feeling of going home in the day. I like to wake up there, and return there and then that's it. I think this comes from living in a city where the commute home wasn't worth it multiple times in a day, but I now live in a much smaller town where it would be easy to do.
What about you guys, stay outers or pop homers?

Depends on where the two activities are in relation to each other and home.

ConnieHeart · 26/07/2025 09:13

Definitely pop home if I'm able, usually to grab something to eat if I'm not meeting someone for lunch, or to make sure my dd has at least risen out of bed and had something to eat/drink

I can’t fathom the thread that “inspired” this?

BusWankers · 26/07/2025 09:14

Do ten minute walk to friends at 10am, stay for an hour or so, and activity 2 is a 30 minute drive - I'd go home.

Friend lives 30 minutes away in AnyTown, and afternoon thing is there...id stay in town.

It was truly inspirational.

taxidriver · 26/07/2025 09:15

it really depends, hmm, depends on a lot of things

taxidriver · 26/07/2025 09:16

my house is a half an hour drive from most places

Doesn’t it?!!

bizarre thread

WonsWoo · 26/07/2025 09:23

If time allowed I’d definitely be a ‘pop back home’ person. I hate not having the anchor of having somewhere to wait. I hate hanging about. DD calls it Sanctuary syndrome!

WonderingWanda · 26/07/2025 09:23

I always attempt to minimise trips by combining things so I only need to make one trip. That said, I do a lot of popping back home due to my kids and their schedules clashing with mine E.g. Go to work all day, need to pop back home to feed the kids, then go back out to take them to a sports club. Or the other day, had to drop ds off at a friend's house in next town. Was then taking dd out to a different town but she wasn't ready on time so had to pop home in between. Then had to bring dd home for dinner before going back out for her training, then brought her home so she could get ready for bed, then back out to collect ds. Basically, I have become a taxi and its very inconvenient.

I think the thread that “inspired” the Op is actually the OP’s own thread from a couple of days ago!!

asking if posters “pack light“ when out for the day

herbalteabag · 26/07/2025 09:35

Depends what my options were - if I had something to do I might stay out, otherwise I'd definitely go home as I'd just be wasting time hanging about for no reason, plus very bored!

DaisyChain505 · 26/07/2025 09:38

I have a dog so definitely popping back between plans. Plus I love being at home.

InMyOpenOnion · 26/07/2025 09:43

Surely it depends what each activity is, where they are in relation to each other and what equipment you need? I hate hanging around killing time so would definitely come home instead of that.

Coconutter24 · 26/07/2025 09:47

If I finished my coffee at 11 I’d go home if I stayed with friend till 1:30 I wouldn’t. Just depends on location of plans and times

partyetiquette · 26/07/2025 10:06

No need for the snark or eye rolling. I'm chatting on a chat forum about an insignificant thing that crossed my mind. Yes inspired by my last thread, which got me thinking about how the two are connected. Especially as lots of posters on there said they keep their cars well stocked.
Not 'bizarre' or 'inspirational'
Just a normal woman, having a normal chat.

I think bizarre

I certainly don’t think “inspirational” 😆

I'd definitely stay out but yes I would feel a bit bored or like I was hanging around.
I think I need to adjust my patterns! My brain needs to catch up with my actual living arrangements now

I'd stay out as it's takes too long to get home and go out again by bus.

Like you were, I’m in a city (London) so popping home isn’t always an option. But I think I would if I could. I hate feeling like I’m killing time pointlessly.

SunflowerLife · 26/07/2025 10:10

I'd go home if I was near enough to justify it. To use the toilet, make a cup of tea, sort the dog out..

Bjorkdidit · 26/07/2025 10:11

Doesn't it depend? But if there's somewhere else I'd want to go in between, I'd do that.

With those timings I'd probably plan a walk and nice lunch, or possibly museum visit or shopping, to fill the gap.

Blondebrownorred · 26/07/2025 10:14

This is what I normally do actually. I try to go to local art gallery/museum. Or find a cosy coffee shop and read
