Malnourished starving children in Gaza

The photos that appeared this morning on my news updates of mothers holding their children, dying of starvation and extreme malnutrition in Gaza have absolutely broken my heart. I am not particularly news focused, of course I’ve followed it all but this morning it has stopped me in my tracks and took my breath away. As a mother of a 3yo DS who is sleeping peacefully in his bedroom, whilst we have a fridge full of food downstairs and a life of peace, I feel so sorry that those poor mothers and children are living this hell so undeserved and also so so lucky we have the peace we do…
I don’t really know what the point of my post is; I suppose I’m screaming When Will This End inside and want to tell everyone to not take the freedom and peace we have for granted; use your right to vote and use your privilege to make informed choices that steer the world away from conflict towards peace…

Sending a handhold to all the mothers’ whose lives are not being lived in peace and whose children are suffering 🕊️💔

Yes you can question things but ultimately you are not in Gaza are you @Comedycook . You do not have friends and family buried under rubble. You have never seen people with limbs blown off. You have never experienced starvation, or watched a baby starve. You can't possibly comprehend what these people are going through. So have some basic human decency. The pictures are not AI. A starving child is a starving child. And it's happening in Gaza - now.

Oh I don't disbelieve their are starving children but any I have seen I have noticed they have also had underlying medical conditions. Absolutely tragic obviously.

But again...has a famine been declared? On the brink of famine for months but funnily enough never actually happened...

Just like in October 2023 they were hours away from running out of water. Now I'm no scientist but I'm guessing humans can't survive for 21 months without water?

Israel is blocking aid. Stop pretending otherwise

Are you a doctor in Gaza? If not how do you know about the underlying conditions

Could you point out the photos you're talking about please? The ones with the underlying medical issues.

This is exactly what people have a disagreement about.
Israel is not blocking the aid. It is Hamas that won’t distribute it, to make Israel look like the bad guy.
I can’t believe that some of you just want to throw mud at Israel at every opportunity, but are blind to what Hamas is doing to its own people.

You said it was any you had seen. Did you mean in person?

I have only seen that Israel has blocked aid entering. Please supply sources for Hamas blocking aid

I see. You're currently in Gaza and any starving children you've seen, you've examined and they've been found to have underlying conditions.

On news reports... invariably the children have had other medical conditions or need specialist food/milk which isn't available. Like I said, 'm not denying food shortages...I just question who has caused it and how it's being presented to us

Nobody’s blind to what Hamas are doing. But Israel’s been committing war crimes for a while now, as confirmed by a range of different international organisations. Medics, journalists, children: nobody is safe. Doctors raped to death, whole families wiped out whilst their children watch. And if one comments on this being appalling, we’re told that everyone likes to blame the Jews, and anti-semitism is wielded like a stick. False equivalences - why don’t you care about all the other wars? - as if we can’t care about it all.

October 7th was a tragedy. Sudan is a tragedy. Gaza is a tragedy. Mankind, driven by religion, glorying in slaughter. It’s sickening.

Israel kicked out the largest distributor of aid, UNRWA a while ago. Since then aid has been distributed sparingly and people are starving to death. Unless of course you have evidence to the contrary.

Can you link to any of the reports? It's strange this isn't more widely reported.

Nobody can justify letting children starve to death, there’s not a good enough reason in the world.

Stop talking nonsense...it's on mainstream news....news reports where they show a child who is unwell and explain their situation...

I have seen no such thing. I have seen a couple of stories about deaths due to a lack of supply of extremely basic medicines, and infant formula. I personally see this as making the whole picture worse. Don’t you?

Ok so that's sad but it's not famine is it? It's deaths because medicines aren't available and specialist foods? Which is pretty much what I said.

Can you provide a link please? Where the starvation is due to all these underlying conditions.

What a stupid teacher. There is no comparison. What are the Israeli children supposed to think? Their country is constantly under attack despite efforts to protect themselves and agree to ceasefires. Hamas are always the ones pushing boundaries and starting everything up again. Are children supposed to learn they should not protect themselves from these attacks? This is nothing like Hitler.

War is cruel and those who tragically suffer are the innocents. Hamas could stop it tomorrow but they are getting well fed.
