Who will clean the bathroom?

Person A and person B are having friends round tomorrow and need to clean up. A said to B “we need to do the bathroom today” B said “I thought we would do it tomorrow “ A then reminded B that one friend is arriving tonight so it does need doing today.
A is wfh until 1pm today then plans to go to the gym, walk the dog , do the food shop and cook tea.
B is off today and has looked after the kids and cleaned down stairs this morning. B is doing an activity with the kids this afternoon.

Who will clean the bathroom?

Should it be A the person who mentioned it or should it be B because A mentioned it to B (but didnt ask them to do it)?

@Shadowpalkia that sounds really bad. 5 hours to get a clean bathroom with kids in the house sounds really bad. I'm sorry they are your neighbours and your report isn’t being taken seriously

I do have a bit of clutter sometimes that would be the most time spent in my house putting it away

Life is too short for this sort of bullshit and bickering. You prob could have done e it by now if you were not in mumsnet! Just play it by ear and see who has time. Unless your total dirty pigs it shouldn’t take long. Just get it done. It’s not a competition and it does not matter who feels they’ve done most. You’re supposed to be a team.

I hope A did it. The gym time was the thing that could be sacrificed to clean the bathroom.

I’d find the bathroom the worst job in the house personally, I think a lot find the same

A should do it simply because they said 'we' but meant 'you'. It drives me bananas, it's so passive aggressive. When DH does that I usually say, "You're very welcome to..." or "I'm assuming that's the royal 'we', you and God."

Thinking about it, he doesn't do it any more!

I'm the same - bathroom is worst general cleaning job. If it's one of the easier cleans, what's the worst one? Cleaning the guttering? (Can't say I've ever personally done that). OK, oven isn't a great job but now I've got one of those pyrotechnic ones it's not too bad.

A. B is busy with the kids A is just "me time"
However, how bad is the bathroom that it needs a designated time slot and allocation.
Even a grotty bathroom takes 15min. Just get it done.

How dirty is the bathroom that it takes more than 20 minutes to clean?

For me its the living room
Always gathers loads of bits and bobs and needs more moving stuff about. Plus we have really heavy cushions on our sofa that I always bend my nails right back on.

Hoover to remove dust (cones in from outside as keep window open)
Clean toilet and wipe down seat, lid, flush, pressure of toilet bowl etc
Clean bath and taps
Clean sink and taps
Clean shower enclosure and shower
Clean shower trap (disgusting job)
Clean outside of shower enclosure and mirror
Wipe down tiles
Wipe down skirting
Clean towel rail/ radiator
Mop floor with bleach solution

If you can do that in 20 minutes, I salute you.

That is really easy in 20'. If it is taking you longer than that, either your bathroom is really dirty to begin with or you are using the wrong products.

More likely dirty (though I'm very thorough) but I also have odd tiles which are difficult to clean.

I use Viakal on most of it. What other products will make it happen in 20 minutes? I need them.

Person A can clean, bin off the gym. The rest of the stuff sounds more essential.
Or share A does the bath/shower, B does the loo and handbasin.

A should do it and skip the gym. Or B should do it after they get back with the kids. Or B can cook while A cleans if they really don't want to to do it.

I really hate cleaning the bathroom so would take any other job!!

Whoever’s friends are coming over should do it, sounds like both can fit it into their day
