I'm fine going by myself

If a friend suggest to you to go to a show/concert/event and as part of the invitation says "I'm happy to go by myself, but would love for you to join me ..."

Is that rude?

Unreasonable: RUDE!
Not Unreasonable: not RUDE!

Not rude and wouldn't bother me.

Samiloff · 22/07/2025 04:12

I don’t see that as rude at all. On the contrary, it’s giving the other person a get-out if they don’t want to go, rather than making them feel they have to accept the invitation even if they don’t really want to.

SaintGermain · 22/07/2025 04:14

I clicked the wrong one!

Shes not being rude at all.

CountryQueen · 22/07/2025 04:27

Clicked the wrong one too

CuriousKiteFlyer · 22/07/2025 04:52

No not rude it's considerate, no pressure either way.

You can change your vote by just clicking the other one

Shenmen · 22/07/2025 05:02

Definitely not rude. Love you to come but no pressure if you can't.

No you can’t

Definitely not rude. Love you to come but no pressure if you can't.

This. It's actually ultra polite not putting you on the spot.

PollyBell · 22/07/2025 05:04

Why would it be rude?

CatRescueNeeded · 22/07/2025 05:11

Empress13 · 22/07/2025 05:03

No you can’t

I’ve just tested and definitely works for me (using web browser)

niadainud · 22/07/2025 05:12

No you can’t

Yes you can.

Perhaps not on the app?

😅 I was wondering what on earth the reasoning was from those saying this is rude!

CurlewKate · 22/07/2025 05:14

Anything but rude-she’s saying that you being there would actively improve the experience for her!

This. They're not trying to guilt you into it?

I agree. No pressure, but they'd love to have you

No you can’t

Yes, you can. You will see a tick appearing on the correct one, hit it a few times if it doesn't immediately change. I just changed mine, twice, and it worked both times.

Have you considered the possibility that it could be different on the app to the web browser? It could be different with different browser or different apps.

Nevertheless, no you can't is incorrect. The correct response would have been "No, I can't do that, it is not working for me."

ChaToilLeam · 22/07/2025 08:10

I don’t get how that could possibly be rude.

IamnotSethRogan · 22/07/2025 08:10

Of course it's not rude. They're giving you a no pressure invite. You can come if you want and I'd enjoy you being there but if you don't fancy it me going is not dependant on you.

Morgenrot25 · 22/07/2025 08:12

No, it's not rude.
They want to go either way, but thought you might like to go to.
It's a no pressure invite!

JudgeBread · 22/07/2025 08:12

Nope, in agreement with everyone else, it's not rude at all.

Who thinks it's rude? Have you said this to someone and they've taken it the wrong way or has someone said it to you?

NotCrazyAboutIt · 22/07/2025 08:15

Why on earth would it be ‘rude’ to explicitly tell someone you’d welcome their company, but there’s no pressure because they’re happy to do whatever it is solo, too?

FranzXaverSuss · 22/07/2025 08:20

Not rude in the slightest.
