Influencers that show their children….

Do we have any in here, or anyone that is close friends with one?
It’s something that I’m really against, and the sooner they bring in laws to protect the children involved the better in my eyes.
i’m always really curious with how the people that do show their children on a monetised account rationalise it with themselves as being ok. They certainly aren’t in the minority, it’s more rare to find someone who shares their life on line that doesn’t show their children.

There are good parents who use social media as a way to provide a better life for their kids. Those people arnt usually a problem

My concerns are for the parents who are not putting their children first ,who abuse their children for that income. Unfortunately they have ruined it for people like your friends. I just wish there was a way to protect children in a way that helps children .

These are not “good parents using social media to provide a better life.”
Private schools and fancy holidays is not a better life when the price is your child’s image and details about their lives plastered all over the internet on a public account. Without their informed consent, because a child is unable to provide it.
Once they’re grown up these children will probably wish they’d been sent to the local comp and gone camping in Devon rather than many thousands of strangers recognising them and knowing all about them, having watched them grow up in front of the camera.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 21/07/2025 23:50

I think there will be many lawsuits in the near future, suing the parent.

Child celebrities rarely grow up well rounded. I know they're not actually celebrities children, local children can be cruel too.

I also hate people putting personal information about children on SM mainly negative over the top personal information for everyone to read.

PrincessSophieFrederike · 24/10/2025 23:34

I'm bi & hope to have kids with a female partner one day. I was recommended a lesbian couple of influencers by a friend. I was shocked by the amount of info they shared about their lives : there was even a video of their daughter meeting her dad (they had a co-parenting relationship with the known donor) 'for the first time'. I mean, what the hell?

So many people of all stripes seem to have no concept of what the Internet is.

CrossChecking · 24/10/2025 23:52

I don't understand why so many people want to watch strangers children. Judging by the level of detail known about some influencers children by posters here they are consuming this content of children that they don't even know, it's very strange to me that that is what people find entertaining to watch.

So long as there is a market for these children to be paraded around on social media there will always be people willing to cash in. That's just life, morals go out the window when money is involved.

Good point : we who watch are complicit. It's like complaining about spiteful tabloids but still clicking on them.

Reddit has a whole community of 'snarkers' who criticise influencers, including lots of 'mommy bloggers'. Tattle was similar for UK, I think? Grim for any kids especially.

How could this get banned? Could a petition do any good? At least raise awareness?

It’s so sad that we need to introduce laws to prevent mothers exploiting their own children.

There is no such thing as integrity these days.

Yep, everything is monetised for 💰 We need to stop this before we end up crushed by hyper-capitalism.

That's why I said the cons outweigh the pros but a lot of these influencers are able to turn it into their full time job so are able to spend a lot more time with their children and be home a lot more which is definitely an advantage over having to put your kid in nursery for 12 hour days but I would still put their safety above this

A lot of these kids influencers post about seem to be school age- I know a lot start with little kids, but they seem to go on a lit longer than that...

My daughter went to high school with a girl whose mum has an online parenting blog, complete with photos of her children, the village they live in and dressed in their primary school uniforms. Some of the things she has written about include her daughter’s tantrums, complete with a very unflattering photo of the girl aged about 8 red faced and tearful. Another was her son’s constipation and that he picks his nose and eats his bogies. That neither child flushed the toilet ever after use…

My daughter and the rest of the class (and the rest of year 7 by the sound of it) found out about this during internet safety week at school when they were tasked with googling the name of the child next to them to see what they could find out about that particular child if anything. My daughter was searching this girl. And the girl understandably lost her mind when she realised what was out there. It’s all still up on the mum’s website now. Madness.

😢 What an evil mother.

That reminds me : most of these blogs are run by mums, but dads are presumably agreeing in those cases?

I am not a hypocrite i dont follow influencers who put their children out there, but i also find the idea that people have opinions on what these influencers do odd 'i dont like influencers putting their children online so I have decided there needs to be a law' same with the obsession over celebrity lives odd, they are not your children nor do you know their lives so focus on your own life

Sure i dont like the idea of children being online so I dont follow them, but I do think people overinvest in opinions does contribute to mental health issues, their is opinions and trying to control the royals, a celebrity split, what influencer eats for breakfast

I’d say there’s a huge difference between having an over interest in what an influencer has for breakfast and the safeguarding of a child.

Not somebody I follow or have any interest in - but 5 minutes of scrolling on TikTok shows Molly-Mae taking an absolute bashing for allowing footage of Bambi (🙄) in the bath/potty training. Why does someone who has the level of following she has need to do this? She doesn’t and it’s exploiting the kid.

What are you saying in your second paragraph? It doesn’t make sense.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 26/10/2025 18:52

I suppose they weigh up pros and cons. A pro would be they get parents around much more than if stuck in a nursery 55hours a week, and get lots of fun free ‘gifted’ activities too.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 26/10/2025 18:52

Well it’s none of your business and unfortunately for you there won’t be any laws brought in to stop it either. Concentrate on parenting your own children instead of judging others. There is a big difference between being genuinely concerned for a child’s welfare and trying to inflict your personal beliefs and wants on others. You fall firmly into the latter.

BettysRoasties · 26/10/2025 19:05

I know somebody I won’t call them a friend. She used her three boys to make money and be gifted may items, was paid for reviews of things she never used. Sold on gifts unopened.

Once the children got older and refused to be in her photos she had to get a real job, but she’s now decided to start a new blog about her healthy lifestyle and weight loss the secret she doesn’t tell is it’s the jabs.

Just fake after fake.

I think I could be wrong however.

I don’t care what other people do and think it’s silly other people care so much and try to protect and police others actions. Get on with your own life.

No not Emily though maybe that’s her inspiration.

MrsLizzieDarcy · 26/10/2025 21:34

I was only made aware of the Emilie Kiser story recently, and was utterly horrified by it all. The fact that she's back online and sharing utter shite less than 5 months after her son died is truly vomit inducing.

I honestly think a lot of these people are a bit tapped in the head to be honest. As are those who devour their every word and staged photograph/video. In today's world our kids aren't necessarily at risk from stranger danger, it's much closer to home.

aperolspritzbasicbitch · 31/10/2025 12:08

Thanks for your input.

I’d disagree though - I believe they make their parenting choices everyone’s business when they choose to post them on an open, monetised social media platform.
confused by the end of your comment though. I’ve made a post on Mumsnet, is everyone who does that ‘trying to inflict’ their personal beliefs and wants on others?

do yoh feel the same about child actors op?

Interesting question, and no, I don’t think I do.
firstly, there are rules and laws in place about how much they can work so it’s not (in my eyes) as exploitive. (Although there are childhood actors who would very much disagree with me I would imagine. I do think you could strike a healthy balance there though.)

secondly, and the biggest point that I was trying to make is that they are playing a role, and that’s not the same as sharing the details of their life to make cash. For instance - a child actor in Eastenders. Chances are, I wouldn’t even know their real name (unless I really wanted to know and remember), let alone the area they lived in, what their bedroom looked like, how their potty training went, when they were ill, what’s in their packed lunch, how they’d behaved that day, and in some cases where they go to school.

I'm 39 and was of the generation of pre internet and post internet.

Personally I try to keep a very low
/Private social media profile. Quite frankly I don't have any desire to be known by everyone or to be online (and don't get me started on people being allowed to film you in public with no consent to post on their social media-seriously pisses me off !! 😡)

So I dont agree with these influencers who always include their children. One because these kids absolutely DO NOT have informed consent, two because everything posted online will exist online FOREVER (thank god my most cringe worthy photos/moments are confined to physical photo albums!) but also thirdly there are some seriously seriously fucked up bad people who look at these things for their own perverted peadophilic reasons. And thats a major one for me, I'd wager anything that disturbingly the videos and tiktoks with the most "saves" most likely unfortunately feature children.
