Influencers that show their children….

Do we have any in here, or anyone that is close friends with one?
It’s something that I’m really against, and the sooner they bring in laws to protect the children involved the better in my eyes.
i’m always really curious with how the people that do show their children on a monetised account rationalise it with themselves as being ok. They certainly aren’t in the minority, it’s more rare to find someone who shares their life on line that doesn’t show their children.

The book 'people like her' would be a good read for you op!

I’ve read it! 🤣

There’s a rich posh woman I follow on Instagram, she’s the ‘tablescaper’ in case anyone also follows her.

She seems absolutely oblivious to how much of her kids lives she details to 250k people. From a 5 minute browse of her instagram anyone could find out the exact school her kids go to (photos of them in full uniform) and the exact location of her very recognisable house.

And the poor kids are often dressed up in uncomfortable looking outfits that you just know they’re going to get teased mercilessly about.

Toottooot · 19/07/2025 18:51

I saw one of these idiots at a kids day out thing recently - whole life plastered over Instagram / you tube. This (for once) was not a #gifted #ad event for her. Big commotion erupts - family near her having a picnic but she is kicking off accusing them of not respecting her children’s privacy etc as the woman was innocently taking photos of her own family. The woman was clearly baffled and had no idea who she was. Ridiculous that she is happy to splash every single detail of her kids online but someone in her vicinity should not dare take their own pictures.

I do not follow this person but after said event I checked the account and big gushing post about the ‘wholesome’ event they had attended with other peoples kids in the background - and of course the hashtag not gifted. Idiot.

StepawayfromtheLindors · 19/07/2025 18:52

It’s child exploitation and child abuse.

Oh, and I read a something from The Anxious Generation which I think is so prudent - That kids are so over protected in the real world and so underprotected in the virtual one.

I guarantee all these fucking influencers are the first to say 'Oh no we don't let them play in the street you don't know who's out there!'

Yes 👏

DaisyChain505 · 19/07/2025 18:54

My husband uploaded a photo of our dog earlier to a random website he’s part of (which has remembers from all over the world in) and it made me feel so uneasy and kind of sick knowing that photos of my dog could be seen by who knows who from who knows where….and that’s just my bloody dog!

I don’t know how these people who post their children online knowing they have thousands if not hundreds of thousands of followers sleep at night, knowing what they’re doing.

BangingOn · 19/07/2025 18:56

@Youdontseehow that influencer is one of the worst IMO as she knows full well that she’s over-exposed her children yet chooses to play the victim herself. The total invasion of their privacy- photos of their bedrooms online, even their underwear drawers. Recently she’s taken to posting photos and videos of her eldest that look like they’ve been taken without her consent, which is even worse.

Is this a joke?

There's a few near where I live with a modest following on instagram.. around 50k. I see their kids at the shop or out for a walk and I recognise them before their parents. I know their names, ages, where they go to school, that the youngest one won't eat vegetables etc etc. it's very disconcerting to think that someone without their best interests could have access to so much information about a strangers child. I have about 500 followers and I still don't post my kids anywhere. Such an invasion of their privacy at such a young age. Hopefully we will start to see a change.

Same. I see the kids in a cafe and instantly recognise them like they’re my kids friends or something. I know lots about them and they don’t know me at all.

Was thinking the same? 🤣

Do you think someone is going to track down your dog? Was he in his school uniform? 😂

Ashley James is an example at its worst.

She said she knows the dangers of what filthy buggers are out there and she knows what they are capable of doing when it comes to manipulating and changing pictures of children to make them into abuse image yet she continues to upload pictures and videos of her children half naked, with their mouths wide open and in the bath etc. It’s disgusting.

She also uploads everything about their medical journey and history for the world to see. That is their information to share with people when they’re older as and when they choose.

She’s uploaded videos of her stood outside her front door with the house number showing, the street where she lives and the journey she walks them to nursery every single day. It wouldn’t take a genius to work out the exact house she lives in and which nursery they’re at.

I would be mortified if my work colleagues or new people I met as an adult were able to say “Hey I know you, I saw a video of you when you wet your pants on that trip out with your mum and she put it on Instagram.” Or “Do you still suffer with that medical condition that you had from age 2-8?”

It’s so wild to me that it’s seen as so normal by so many.

Edited

Unfortunately for these children, becoming a parent doesn’t require a test of common sense or intelligence beforehand, or an iota of emotional intelligence.

As much as I agree with images of children unwell or half dressed or whatever are ill judged I do think there’s a happy medium. Which the quoted post is not!

PracticallyPeapod · 19/07/2025 21:25

Travelfairy · 19/07/2025 18:03

I agree but what i think is even worse is posting 100 'back of head' photos or emojis over their faces. Its ridiculous. Just don't post them. Stop using them for financial gain but blocking out their faces with a stupid emoji trying to pretend you are morally superior to those who post full pics of kids.
Leave them off your page completely.

Agree. You’re still using your child to create additional revenue for your advertising space. You exploit them financially in creating advertisements and branded posts. A lot of these people are very ‘natural/attachment/no screen’ type of people but have no issue with their child being used to advertise global brands. It’s all extremely weird.

jf1992x · 19/07/2025 21:28

Not to mention when it all goes wrong (AKA Emilie Kiser and the death of her son) how insane people have been. I’m talking people ringing up the hospital to find out what room he was in when was on life support, people getting in touch with the police asking for the 911 transcript, people driving past her house to see if they could spot her. And worst of all - when he finally passed, the medical examiners website crashed because so many people were looking for his death certificate. They had to take it down in the end! A 3 year old! I don’t think people realise just how crazy others are 😬😬 give me less money any day of the week

DaisyChain505 · 19/07/2025 21:36

Jessnwoody · 19/07/2025 21:14

Is this a joke?

No it’s not a joke and I don’t think someone is going to track my dog down because of a photo of him somewhere.

it’s the fact that I didn’t put that out there and I have no idea where it’s going to end up.

You see all these Instagram pages of “cute puppies” etc that steal content from all over the web and I don’t want my personal photos being used by someone I haven’t consented to.

I was merely saying that you don’t know who’s looking at stuff you put online and where it will end up. It’s the feeling of being out of control or something that is “yours” and “private” and not knowing where it will end up. It could be a photo of your living room but if you hadn’t consented to that photo being shared and you knew it was now being seen my millions all over the world and used for who knows what advertising or purpose you’d feel a weird way.

Louise Pentland.. she's made her daughter her own insta to do ads she's 13 and online since birth. Disgusting woman and her husband is a police man 🥲

There is a Netflix documentary about ruby frankie and her YouTube channel. Shows slots of the behind the scenes video of her that was cut. It’s honestly chilling.

he son Chad was a celebrity. But he didn’t get any of the money and she would make them do stuff for the videos when they didn’t want to. Then get angry at them

MyLoftyShaker · 20/07/2025 05:41

i honestly don’t think many consider privacy. Plenty have shared house moves and even declared they’re on right move. Open Facebook accounts and other social media. That’s before them following children’s schools from their business account. As for posting in uniforms, surely by now we should all know better …

Whatafustercluck · 20/07/2025 05:56

I don't personally know anyone, but 14yo ds and I were talking about this recently because my dd has started watching Salish Matter. We were saying how wrong it is that Jordan Matter even engineered boyfriend/ girlfriend narratives for Salish/ Nidal Wonder when they were just 10 years old. It's almost like pimping her out. Dd just sees a fun family and a sassy teenage girl. Me and ds see a £50m fortune father exploiting his sexualised young daughter for money and find it really, really disturbing.

moonseas · 20/07/2025 06:48

I can’t remember her name but there’s one British ‘influencer’ who posts lots of videos of her 2/3y.o. toddler as he says funny ‘old man’ things and she delights in how cute he is. We all think our toddlers are gorgeous and hilarious but come on. They did a nice picnic in their garden and she filmed the entire thing! Imagine stopping yourself enjoying a lovely thing in the moment so you can press stop, record, change the angle, you missed the funny thing he said so you have to try and cue him up to say it again in the same way… And then you have to sit there and edit your family memory into an engaging piece of content for the world to see. How odd.

Another person who’s adopted this entire approach is Katherine Ryan. It seems 25,729 panel show and TV appearances weren’t lucrative enough and now she’s got her own Kardashian-esque show featuring her children as a primary source of content - I find it disappointing.

quicklywick · 20/07/2025 07:04

I think their are definitely pros but the cons far outweigh this. Their are some really dangerous people in the world and they are putting there children's lives at risk by doing this and its not something I would do. All it takes is one dangerous person to get obsessed and anything could happen. Celebrities have security for a reason.

Dayfri · 20/07/2025 07:20

I think it’s terrible. There is one guy (very well known) whose daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and seemingly his first thought was to put it on instagram. My niece has T1 diabetes too and was diagnosed at about the same age and I can’t imagine my sister ever posting anything so personal and traumatic on social media, apart from anything my niece would be horrified.
