Women punched me on the bus

Bus today, peak hour, lots of people. I managed to get in and was simply standing because all seats occupied. Then, out of nowhere, one lady punched my shoulder (I had cyst removed from my back last Wednesday, almost peed myself from pain as she punched straight to wound). I turned my head around and said- " stop touching me " .And then- suddenly she became so upset as I'm " younger generation ", "have no respect to elderly person ",etc. (She is 50-55years old).
Yes, you should open your mouth and say-" excuse me "!!!! I had no idea who was behind my back as bus was completely packed.

Do you experience something similar, especially in London? Funny thing, I know that lady, she passing my street every morning when I'm leaving for work and I really thinking to tell her off tomorrow as I had to clean my bleeding wound because of her!

She sounds absolutely insane! Even if you'd bumped into her, she can't go round punching people on public transport! Did anyone else on the bus say anything, and did you tell the driver? If you report it to the police and to the bus company, they may be able to get the CCTV from the bus.

I hope your wound gets better soon.

classiccake · 16/07/2025 22:47

I`d have hit her right back sorry i have no advice really.

Ddakji · 16/07/2025 22:48

That is not normal, even for London! I hope you’re OK, OP.

xsquared · 16/07/2025 22:51

Sorry you experienced this op. That's awful and how bloody dare she get upset when you were the one who was assaulted!

I find London public transport is getting busier and more elbowy whenever we visit in wither the summer or Christmas.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 16/07/2025 22:55

I hope you're okay. If you are going to approach her set your phone to record the conversation.
You should have pinched her really hard, punching her hard would look bad, sneaky hard pinching would sort her out.
Cheeky sod.

OhBumBags · 16/07/2025 22:56

No.

Do you think it's normal or common behaviour?

40weeksmummy · 16/07/2025 22:57

Bus was packed, there was no chance for me to reach the driver. She even got support from other guy and they were both discussing loudly about "rude new generation " until she decided to move upstairs and pushed one more lady.
Luckily, one passenger realised that I'm in pain and offered me a seat.

It's not normal behaviour anywhere to do that. She's assaulted you. Full stop. For no good reason. Report online to British transport police or the local force, and the bus company. I wouldn't confront her directly.

alcoholnightmare · 16/07/2025 23:00

When she’s passing your street every morning… will your hosepipe stretch far enough? I think the hosepipe bans can be excused here

zeddybrek · 16/07/2025 23:01

Sorry this happened to you OP. I get on the bus 3-4 times a day in London and this hasn't happened before. Very strange of her to do this on a busy bus, there are cameras everywhere, would you feel comfortable reporting her. Totally unacceptable behaviour. Hope your wound heals quickly.

Thank you, I'm still thinking about reporting her. Wouldn't be hard to find her identity. I know her workplace.

Unfortunately I can't see the police asking the bus company for the footage and trawling through it, considering they don't even bother asking neighbours for door cam footage when someone's been burgled anymore.

Might still be worth a shot though.

CalicoPusscat · 17/07/2025 00:10

That's really horrible of her. Some people are just awful, I had a very young homeless woman fly at my face saying she would punch me in (she meant it!) but passers by stopped, one burly man got in-between and restrained her and a lady guided me away.

Report if you can, sorry she hurt you. It isn't normal behaviour at all.

ilovesooty · 17/07/2025 00:48

No I've never been punched on a bus, in London or anywhere else.
You say that you know her workplace? Does she realise she's identifiable? If so she's being rather stupid to assault people in public.

Usernamenotavailable19 · 17/07/2025 00:52

If you see her again as she walks past your street make sure you tell her she made your wound bleed. She seems dreadful

teksquad · 17/07/2025 00:54

50-55 is not elderley OP, in case you have to describe her to police.

sarsaparillatree · 17/07/2025 00:54

Did you stand on her foot by accident maybe?

BumblingBanana · 17/07/2025 01:11

I would lose my mind if someone intentionally punched me.

Are you sure she didn't accidentally outstretch her arm and then the bus moved or something? She thought she was grabbing a rail or something? In which case she thought she wasn't doing it on purpose?

657904I · 17/07/2025 01:12

forget about telling her off, I would just report her to the police tbh.

punching someone in their wound is horrific, was your wound visible? do you think she purposely hit you there, given she might recognise you from before?

Darkeststarwillshine · 17/07/2025 01:14

50 - 55 and she thinks she is elderly? Crikey

summertimeinLondon · 17/07/2025 01:14

That’s assault, and as other posters have said, London buses have CCTV. You should think of reporting to the bus company and the police.

Mrsbloggz · 17/07/2025 01:24

She sounds like a nutter OP.
Best to steer clear of them if you can (as tempting as it might be to retaliate).

Did she punch you, or did she put her hand on your shoulder to indicate she was trying to get past and it hurt because of the wound?
I don't understand how an actual punch would be ignored by others?
