😫😫

I'm supposed to be reading more books, learning other languages and to play an instrument, lose weight

All I wanna do is lay down, look at tiktok videos and offer my opinion on mumsnet whilst watching classic holby city and eating biscuits

I think I'll be fat and gossipy with a 10 second attention span forever

Does anyone relate or have any advice 😪😄

I would recommend you form a political party . You would win the next election by an overwhelming majority.

I will never forgive Mumsnet for getting rid of the laughing reaction.

Do you really just want to look at tik tok videos?
look at your screen time and see how many hours this week you didn’t in tik tok and let us know which videos actually stick in your mind as being worthwhile of spending your time on.

Im similar so working on it too but luckily I exercise and joined a book club. Have you Sen those videos about disappearing for 6 weeks or months or whatever to quietly focus on your goals? I love them and really want to do it.

I love those videos too - I deleted tiktok on Sunday and read chapter one of harry potter 6. Then today I had some biscuits and had to check mumsnet and then my finger had magically downloaded tiktok!

Tbh @HairHeyHelp tiktok videos about levelling up 😭

Plus we've moved to a new area and everyone's middle class and thin and glamorous

I've had to stop getting my asda shop delivered 🙈 - and I love m&s sable grapes now

Important question… where the hell do you find classic Holby?! Need links please…

Omg girl - U &Drama

Channel 20 on freeview, but if you use the U app and search Classic Holby City, you can watch from the very beginning! xx

Meadowfinch · 16/07/2025 20:07

Try some different things. Things that are actually fun. Languages are only fun if you can head off to Toulouse or Naples for a year.

Six years before ds was born I went on a corporate day and got totally hooked on clay pigeon shooting. After ds came along I took up running, just to buy myself some lone, thinking time.

I make my own bread. I grow fruit. Next year I will learn to sail. Much more fun. 😊

Me too.
Am hormonal and just want to nap, eat rubbish and watch tv. Don’t want to entertain child, exercise or make dinner but not sure how long I can get away with the lying down…

You've got to rope the kids in with the laziness! Picky bits, 'watching a film together' whilst browsing mumsnet

I'm lucky as I only have one, much less food to prepare and stuff to do 😅

Oh I've just moved to a more deprived area from a middle class one. It's so relaxing, finally I fit in.

Omg youre gonna be so happy and relaxed 😌

I left my hometown so dont miss the place but I do miss not worrying about fitting in and being suddenly having my intelligence tested

You'd hate me- I want to do all the things: read all the books, listen to all the music, play more instruments, know more languages, do more in the gym. I do a little bit of everything- work just gets in the way and encroaches far too much on my life.

Sunshineismyfavourite · 16/07/2025 20:20

You sound like my kind of person OP. Although for me, I'm watching Call the Midwife and eating spicy Cheetos 😜

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 16/07/2025 20:20

With a to do list like that I think anyone would want to lie down

You probably don’t just want to watch Holby, but maybe pick one thing you really want to do (not think you should do) and try that

Kangarude · 16/07/2025 20:21

Dogaredabomb · 16/07/2025 20:06

It was apparently being used in an offensive way - I saw a poster say they had posted about their disability and some poster(s) had given the post laughing emojis - that sort of horrid thing. I do miss it though

Well in my life time I’ve read 1000’s of books, I can speak 2 foreign languages and have a great figure.
But so what?
Does it make me a better , happier or rounded person?
I like Mumsnet , and eating biscuits too.

manicpixieschemegirl · 16/07/2025 20:24

Dogaredabomb · 16/07/2025 20:06

Have they ever explained why

Some people were using it to laugh at posts they thought were stupid/wrong.

5128gap · 16/07/2025 20:34

Unless you think you're going to have to squeeze through a tiny gap to rescue an abandoned kitten, luring it out of hiding by playing the clarinet, using a technique you read in a book in Mandarin, none of those things will make you a better person. Do what you like, harm no one and do good for people when you can, and that's good enough.

Delphiniumandlupins · 16/07/2025 20:48

You could read the ingredients on the biscuit packets and that would cover reading and languages. Or put subtitles on Holby City in another language? I've joined several book groups because that's the only way I get books finished - the best book groups include biscuits (or wine or both).

frozendaisy · 16/07/2025 20:56

Watch films or series of books
or just new stuff on tv - so much now (depending on your subscriptions) must be something new out there

that’s expanding your culture input whilst varying very little

i buy books - I like buying books - I like buying books thinking I will enjoy reading that - so I have stopped buying books and am attempting the reading bit of the procedure now!

I’m supposed to be organising my house room by room and selling all my old stuff on Vinted but I’m currently spending all my evenings drinking rose and playing Animal
Crossing so I can get a bigger house thank my kids

People were using it to mock eachother lol. Typical.

I don't think it's menopause because I've been exactly like this since I was 20 OP haha.

Honestly just do the best you can. I do yoga and am fit now, I wasn't, my weight will fluctuate, I'll try and I'll slip again. It's a normal cycle.

If you can bare it uninstall the social media apps though, I'm much happier without them. I'm not a jealous person or anything like that I just find so much more from existing in the real world as much as possible.

I only discovered it on the last series (I know, I'm literally so embarrassed about that!) I'm now on series 9 so a few more to go! I love it!

Currently on the programme with the new young Dr who seems to be stealing pethidine ...
