Any tips to make a holiday go a smoothly as possible? On my packing list along side the usual stuff is a steamer for clothing and folding travel pegs 😂 any other suggestions? Any tips to make the whole travelling with children go as smoothly as possible? I hate flying so any suggestions for light hearted books that will keep me busy would also be great! Thanks :)

I’ve occasionally used small clothes storage bags for certain things, like underwear or swimwear, and just taken them out the case and put them straight in the wardrobe or wherever, rather than having to unpack everything separately. I don’t get putting daily outfits in though, I like the spontaneity of deciding what to wear that day, not oh, it’s day two, I have to wear this because it’s packed in the day two cube 😆

Buy a scrubba, washes things properly.

who takes towels on holiday?? That’s a bit stupid. Especially if it’s a beach holiday.

I always research for the local place that does pick up and drop off laundry. Last trip we used this and packed almost half the amount. Washed cleaned and ironed in 24 hours at a fraction of hotel prices.

I’m all in with packing cubes. I was a sceptic but OMFG they are brilliant. One for underwear, one for swimwear, one for bottoms, one for tops and dresses. Makes storing and finding things so easy.

Exactly and when we get there we just place the cubes in the cupboards as is . This is so so helpful for kids stuff too

@Whatdoidotoday I’ve stayed in many villas that don’t provide pool towels so you have to take your own.

Wear your bulkiest clothing on the plane. Shoes coats etc. lenor crease spray. Buy the small travel bottles and decant stuff into them, label with permanent marker. Make sure all electrical items are fully charged the night before. The compression packing cubes, organises clothes and save space. Buy a different colour set for each traveller. Use one for dirty laundry. Use a luggage strap on suitcases (easier to see on belt and safeguards against bursting open). Propranolol is great if you panic on a plane. Kindle over books. Pack of cards. If you need towels buy the quick dry sports ones. Don’t pack too much.

Use large ziplok bags instead of packing cubes. Squeeze the air out and voila. You can see what you have in there, and fill each with your own method of sorting stuff out. I tried the packing cubes but I found I could fit far more in without them, by just folding.

However, trying to be a bit more organised I now use the ziplok bags and find them fab.

We save money on adapters by only holidaying in places that use the same plugs as the UK.

That's unnecessarily restrictive
