To ask what little freebies you get in life?

So not much in life is free…we all know that.
im moving house soon and i was on the hunt for boxes so i asked in work. The waste management guys told me they would keep some boxes to the side for me. When I went down he had a stack for me already flattened so I could get them in my car and he gave me a big roll of tape to use also. I was so happy, I feel like I’m haemorrhaging money at the moment so even though it was something small it made such a difference for me.
we also have free tea/coffee/milk/water in work! Love that too!
whats your freebie? ☺️

A weekly assortment of fruits and veg.

Today I had 2 days' worth of cooked dinner delivered by my dad, because I mentioned I was tired.

Life's not bad at all ☺️.

Hedonism · 10/07/2025 16:13

DS has a paper round and he collects our Sunday paper at the same, so we get it delivered with no delivery charge... does that count?

TheWibble · 10/07/2025 16:14

Mine are all through work. At my office I get free sandwiches on a Friday, if they're due to expired over the weekend. Also had free plants off the plant man, free air fresheners from the guy who replenishes them in the loos, free furniture (chairs/cabinets/desks/tables) when they'e done refurbs.

Unorganisedchaos2 · 10/07/2025 16:27

DH works for an electrical wholesaler so lightbulbs, light fittings etc

No free as such but they have a big skip that's emptied every week so everyone uses that, we once disposed of a whole bathroom suite over two weeks so we didnt have to pay for a skip

All very glamours ...

Marble10 · 10/07/2025 16:38

Love a freebie. Especially a perfume sample. When I order online and it comes unexpectedly is the best. Otherwise the ladies in my local John Lewis are generous and give me a handful

declutteringmymind · 10/07/2025 16:39

We get loads of trade freebies like pens etc but these have got a lot fewer these days. I sometimes get the free Caffè Nero vouchers from octopus energy.

That must be the modern equivalent of Luncheon Vouchers. I took a friend’s whole stack off them once playing poker at lunchtime. They were free!

I remember my dad getting those in the 1970s and 80s. We used to use them at McDonalds.

I think 15p per day was tax free which is what he got, but they added up over time.

Bamboo socks. I signed up for a free pair from BAM maybe 8 or 9 years ago and have received 3-5 pairs a year since. Its slightly bizarre but I do enjoy receiving the even if someone else will be getting them as I don't wear them 😂

DH gets this too. He's happily baffled by it. Every time he's thinking of buying new ones, free ones appear.

Jeezitneverends · 10/07/2025 16:45

None from my workplace-they even took away the water dispensers to save money!!!

namechangedtemporarily123 · 10/07/2025 16:49

Free Sky TV package. It’s become more valuable over recent years. Would certainly take it into consideration if I decided to look for another job.

catchyoubysurprise · 10/07/2025 17:31

I’ve done lots of very strange jobs, and as a result, know lots of people. I get free season passes for DH’s football team, free museum tickets for big exhibitions, and often get free lunches/dinners/hotel stays from various mailing lists I’m still on. Also get free lunch fairly often in the office as we run a lot of in house events and always invariably over cater

BedlingtonWillow · 10/07/2025 17:36

I write copy for a DVD rental company (yes they still exist) so I get lots of free films.

SingleAHF · 10/07/2025 17:38

Nothing. Zilch. Nada.

Jealous!

Love this! Definitely my favourite freebie story.

I read it as though she wanted children and ran away because she was fed up of having her eggs stolen

ManyATrueWord · 10/07/2025 17:45

I was on the Parish Council for a while. I got a free guided tour of the sewage works 😂

Dontlletmedownbruce · 10/07/2025 17:45

Dh has a parking space in the city and I park there whenever I want to go shopping or have an appointment.

I can bring my kids to work if there is a random school closure day.

JustGoClickLikeALightSwitch · 10/07/2025 17:54

I work in a food bank. Obviously our aim is to give away food and we do, about a tonne a week, but when there is still some left AND it can’t be stored AND we have asked around other local food projects/soup kitchens/homeless shelters etc - the volunteers can help themselves. This week I got slightly past-it broccoli and a half loaf of nice bread.

ConnieHeart · 10/07/2025 17:59

BeachPossum · 10/07/2025 15:59

Oh this happened to me a few weeks ago too! Totally made my day.

Did they just tell you your coffee is free? Is it random?

Hollowvoice · 10/07/2025 18:00

I once got my M&S shopping free with my Sparks card.

Another one - DD (7) always get something free at Pret. I assume it’s because that particular branch very rarely gets children in. Literally every time.

I work in publishing so get a LOT of free books. I’ve had to stop bringing them home with me as they were piling up and I don’t get around to reading them,

Hollowvoice · 10/07/2025 18:07

Oh and I won pantomime tickets one time (oh yes I did!)
