Greg Wallace’s autism means that he can’t wear underwear. Really?

Headline in today’s Times. As a mother of a diagnosed autistic DS I find this playing of the disability card pretty offensive. He also blames the BBC for not supporting him in managing his disability. He is capable of putting a sock on his privates when exposing himself to lowly and therefore vulnerable female staff members, so it seems that he got over his sensory sensitivities to some extent. His consistent blaming of others and absolute lack of self-awareness or remorse for his actions is just reprehensible I think.

Pants are an endless problem for my AuDHD child.

B1anche · 10/07/2025 15:57

"... the presenter defended himself and also said he had recently been diagnosed with autism, but that TV bosses had failed to "investigate my disability" or "protect me from what I now realise was a dangerous environment".

"Dangerous environment", in other words, an environment with women who Greg couldn't control himself around. What a horrible little excuse of a man he is.

MoonWoman69 · 10/07/2025 16:43

@stitchy Your post is why we need the 🤣🤣🤣 back!!! And now I'm thinking about his tackle roaming round his kecks!!! 🤢

Pemba · 10/07/2025 16:45

Does he not have an agent or a PE company who could tell him to SHUT UP?

He's just making himself look worse and worse. I don't buy it, and I don't think he'll get any sympathy, as he seems to think.

Pemba · 10/07/2025 16:45

PR not PE!

ntmdino · 10/07/2025 17:03

Autistic here, too. I cannot imagine a world in which I would expect my employer to provide protection I have never asked for based on a condition I have never been diagnosed with.

Also, this is a handy reminder to all that autistic folk are susceptible to being complete asshats in exactly the same proportions as non-autistic people.

Viviennemary · 10/07/2025 17:07

I read an article today saying he was going to take the BBC to the cleaners and sue them for discrimination. Madness.

DesignerStars · 10/07/2025 17:12

DP hasn’t worn underwear since he was a teenager although he’s not autistic. Now hoping his trousers don’t spontaneously fall down the same way Gregg’s seem to.. 🤔

LonginesPrime · 10/07/2025 17:20

Why does he say “nothing was done to investigate my disability” as an adult?

Whose responsibility does he think this should have been?

Such an odd comment (along with the rest of them…).

notedbiscuits · 10/07/2025 17:44

Dan Harris, who runs the charity Neurodiversity in Business and is himself autistic, said people like him "may miss social cues sometimes".
"But autism is not a free pass for bad behaviour," he added.

This also applies to parents with young children.

Do they also flash their genitals at people?

It’s not the (lack of) pants that are an issue. It’s the flashing and groping. Nobody should know what a co-worker is (not) wearing as underwear.

Especially as man with a large income. He could pay for assessment. He has an autistic child and the it’s banded about the autistic community that 90% of autistic children have at least one autisitc parent.

Sometimes it’s not obvious until you’re older and doctors said he definitely doesn’t have it. Similar happened to me

Whoever is running his PR/Crisis comms needs to be sacked. With allegations like this, coming out swinging is a really bad idea. If he’s in the right, the truth will come out in court. But blaming everyone from ‘ladies of a certain age’ to neurodivergence is unbelievably bad comms.

He’s probably going to start a Go Fund Me to pay for it. 😵‍💫

However it does occur to me that the BBC probably took some legal advice before firing him, albeit several years too late.

Squaffle · 10/07/2025 18:26

Trying to do them for “a dangerous working environment” when you are the danger… yeah good luck with that.

Internaut · 10/07/2025 18:32

If he has sensory sensitivity, he may well be unable to wear underwear. However, that has nothing whatsoever to do with his behaviour. He managed to keep his clothes on when the cameras were on, so his behaviour was clearly completely within his control

Oh crap, this is what he wants isn't it? For us all to be thinking about his free range tackle.
I have genuinely spent time wondering how comfortable it would be to have testicles directly up against a jeans seam, seems chafe-y

Also, kecks is one of my favourite words 👖

I strongly suspect he is ignoring their advice.

Out of interest what would you advise him? Apologise and keep out of the media for a while?

Usually you follow the news cycle, lie low and wait for it to blow over. As long as he keeps releasing statements, he’s feeding the machine and keeping it in the headlines. Good PR normally fights quietly behind the scenes to make the headlines go away and then when the time is right, either fight it out in court or if there’s no case to answer, relaunch/rebrand.

Thank you. How do you fight behind the scenes? What does this look like?

I suspect his PR team are totally fed up with him.

BoredZelda · 10/07/2025 19:38

FGS, I’ve already had to warn my autistic teenage daughter to be careful not to throw an accidental Nazi salute, and now I need to warn her not to accidentally sexually abuse people. Bloody autism. 🤦🏻‍♀️

@OxfordInkling

and they may cause some sensory issues for Gregg Wallace too, who knows. Regardless, nothing - NOTHING- gives anyone excuse to flash their genitals at others.

NeedAnyHelpWithThatPaperBag · 10/07/2025 19:53

Sounds like a lawyer invented potential excuse/"explanation". Like those rich dodgy old men accused of something or other who develop "Alzheimer's or something that makes them use a walking frame and then suddenly "recover" if acquitted.

LlynTegid · 10/07/2025 19:59

Let him explain this when in court, as some of the allegations are such that the police should be contacted and charges made.
