To think being married is… actually really nice?

I feel like there’s a lot of cynicism around marriage: the jokes, the warnings, the “ball and chain” stuff. But honestly? I find it comforting, grounding, and just quietly lovely.

AIBU to think being married is still something worth wanting, not just for tradition but for how it can feel?

Yes, 34 years last week. I am still spellbound by the spirituality of the blessing of the rings. It was truly profound. DH is alright as well.

I have always very much liked being married and Mrs His name.

Love being married.

There's an old BBC documentary and one of the questions people were asked was 'what are the benefits of marriage'. One of the men gave 'companionship' as his first answer, and I think we might have lost that.

DH and I had our 15 year anniversary this week, been together 19 years this year. I never thought I would be with one person this long and even though we have had some absolute shitty fights over the years we still choose each other and I don't think we have ever gone a full day without saying I love you.

I love being married. He's a grumpy bastard sometimes and I can be really hard to please at times but it still works. He's a great dad and he's been the main breadwinner and provider for near on our whole marriage meaning I was able to be home with our kids when they were small. He's generous and very dependable and he's definitely still got it!.

I did too, until he had an affair. Then I realised its an expensive contract to get out of & although he broke the vows there is no penalty.

Marriage wouldn’t make me feel more secure in my relationship. You can still be cheated on whether you have a ring on your finger or not.

It feels so different from living together because of the total (legal, financial, moral, public etc) commitment.

36 years for us soon.

You need to find the right companion!
