Sex slimeball Gregg Wallace sacked now blaming his “disability” for his behaviour

Whitehorses67 · 08/07/2025 22:17

Just read that GW has been sacked from Masterchef and that 50 more reports of his disgusting perving have been received.
He has clearly learnt nothing after the backlash following his previous social media rant about “ middle class women of a certain age” and now claims his newly diagnosed “disability” of autism made him do it.
He even tries to make himself the victim as apparently he wasn’t protected.
As someone with autism myself his attempt to use this as a defence makes me want to shove his buttery biscuit base where the sun doesn’t shine.
AIBU to think he is toast and good riddance?

And now John Torode has been given the push as well

hi there, can you link to where it says he’s been given the push pls as nothing I’m reading or listening to is saying it.

Daily Mail. Not sure if I’m misinterpreting it, he was told to step down and cite mental health issues but it’s not actually very clear if due to his refusal to do this have they got rid of him or is he still clinging on? Ultimately if they want him gone he’ll be gone soon

BBC told John Torode 'to resign and blame mental health issues'

Gregg Wallace's co-presenter came out last night to admit an allegation of using racist language had been upheld against him - but denied all wrongdoing.

I've read many complaints on MN over the years about GW, there must quite a few threads about him. I don't recall any about JT? I expect there were a few, can't make everyone love you, but I trust the MN hive mind to spot a wrong un long before the rest of the world. JT behaves, on tv at least, like a civilised person and I'm disinclined to believe he would intentionally offend or fail to apologise if he did. Don't make things worse BBC.

Hazelsticksandwillow777 · 15/07/2025 09:24

I quite like John Torode; I wonder if he spoke up against Greg? I remember at a certain point when they were being interviewed about a new series, he made it clear that he was not a personal friend of GW’s and I remember wondering why he was emphasising that, as it came across as slightly strange! He said he had been his best man but they weren’t friends! And now we know why he may have said that!

But did JT speak up on set if he was aware of GW behaving inappropriately around female runners and contestants? Maybe he did say something and was ignored? Or maybe he didn’t because he didn’t want to endanger his own job?

To be fair to the BBC, I can understand why they want a clean sweep. The format was getting very tired anyway, even without GW’s appalling behaviour.

Pemba · 15/07/2025 09:40

What gets me is that GW just can't see it at all, can he?

He's quoted as saying that the BBC 'is more interested in protecting its own legacy than in protecting people'. They are protecting people Gregg you idiot - from you! It took a while but it's happening.

But he is determined to see himself as the victim in this. Yet he was given warnings, given training and people must have tried to explain how he comes across but nope. It's all about him.

Pivilepivling · 15/07/2025 09:43

Yes I think Wallace is taking down Torode with him.

I’ve watched the show since it started and I am very annoyed that Wallace has behaved like a twat and spoiled an institution.

Serpentstooth · 15/07/2025 10:24

Face it though, he's always been a twat. GWs continued employment on masterchef has been a mystery to many viewers who have continued to watch despite him, not because of him. He is stunningly ignorant about many things, including food. As to why he was wandering the land visiting factories to annoy the workers I have no explanation.

I have zero sympathy for the narcissistic, sexist wanker. A cheap parting shot playing on autism, as well.

This.

He did it because he is vile. Nothing to do with autism.

Teenybub · 15/07/2025 16:56

I challenged the remaining issue of unwanted touching but have had to accept a difference in perception

anyone else read this as “I perceived I could do it because I wanted to and the person felt they couldn’t say no, they didn’t agree that this made it ok”

AutoCorrupt · 15/07/2025 17:10

Well JT has definitely gone now.

Pivilepivling · 15/07/2025 17:44

Yes, I was expecting him to go.

TranceNation · 15/07/2025 17:56

It really is time for the BBC to be defunded. These scandals just keep arising. Also the top earning BBC presenters list released today. Lineker on 1.3m, Zoe Ball in 500k and Ian Hislop on 20k per episode of Have I Got News For You. The BBC is a celebrity gravy train, it's audiences are in terminal decline and these constant BBC scandals just show there is a very murky culture at the BBC. It needs knocking on the head.

Serpentstooth · 15/07/2025 18:07

Ian Hislop is worth every penny. Zoe Ball? 500k? More than Hislop? Shocking. Still, whingers, you'll miss it when it's gone. Count up how many bbc services you use and ask yourself whether you want to pay a sub for each? It's not just telly.

Serpentstooth · 15/07/2025 18:14

Although if John Torode is replaced by Zoe Ball on MChef I might agree with you.

Serpentstooth · 15/07/2025 18:16

🙏 don't suppose there's any chance of Jay Rayner doing a few episodes? That would make me happy.

I think Jay and Grace Dent would be a good duo. Also very much here for Grace and Monica Galetti

Serpentstooth · 15/07/2025 18:19

Yes, good pairing.

soupyspoon · 08/07/2025 22:27

Im not surprised and most of this site shouldnt be either given that it gets trotted out all the time to excuse bad behaviour.

So why not excuse his then?

This is a valid point to be fair.

TranceNation · 15/07/2025 18:29

Why is Hislop worth 20k per episode?

The audience ratings clearly demonstrate that the vast majority of people are not watching the BBC. Their flagship shows EastEnders and Match of the day only get around 3m viewers.

Serpentstooth · 15/07/2025 19:18

Because there's only one of him and his opinion is not for hire, by which I mean, his contempt for our politicians is not one-sided, he judges them by their actions and will say so, which has become increasingly rare,. He's also one of the wittiest men around and has a good eye and ear for cant.

Don't get me wrong I can't stand politicians. They are all slippery self serving power hungry liars but Hislop alone simply doesn't justify the licence fee - 20k an episode is an insult to people forced to pay this out of date concept during cost of living when the BBC viewing figures are dwindling especially with all these scandals...remember Angus Deayton?

And now John Torode has been given the push as well. Sounds like the bbc wanted a total reboot and that JT is tainted by association. Some unproven accusation that he may years ago have used a racist term, although not as an insult. Obviously racism is not to be tolerated but what strikes me is he says he has no recollection of the incident. So is it one persons word against his and that’s it? He always seemed like a nice person 🤷‍♀️. I’m glad he’s spoken out though because the whole thing of the bbc telling him to say he had mental health issues and was stepping down seems wrong. Seems he wants to shine a light on it all.

I too think the BBC have shoved JT out of the picture and under the bus, so that they can do a total reboot. He says he doesn’t have any recollection of the comment and presumably (maybe) just the one complaint and not countless as with GW?
Shady as fuck all around if you ask me.

Serpentstooth · 15/07/2025 20:06

If what JT says is reliable then he should be heading to his lawyers. That'll take a chunk our of the licence fee.

The BBC should have got rid of GW after a few series. Not nearly 20 years..
They are pretty useless.
