Her excuse for that will be because there was an NDA signed between the parties that they couldn't discuss it.

She does actually address it in the longer statement on her website tbf.

Digitalhen · 09/07/2025 18:15

They are cashing in on the societal wide victim identity that we all just love to champion. Everyone loves to be seen to support a victim of perceived injustice. And to top it off her book and fictional story also cashed in the incurable illness chip that was put into remission by a non medical strategy! The illusion of hope it gave to people with illness and disability, the hope it gave people who are midlife and struggling financially! She used it all. And we the culture of championing victims lapped it up - as seen by her fame and hero status with the promoted additional (4) bestselling spin off books and movie. Not to mention being paid for interviews, articles and radio and tv appearances. We are partly to blame for buying her story without question and additionally being unable to really question it when everyone in the media and book clubs et al all love her and her tragic/success.

Stravaig · 09/07/2025 18:15

That website statement is quite something! Seems ill-advised? Very woe is us, lots of deflection and redirection, and if more lies, possibly libellous accusations? Above all, there is nothing to restore trust that we can believe anything she claims.

I think after that statement on her website that anyone who has something to say about them will want to have their say big time.

The DM doesn't actually say anything at the moment, just says she is devestated.

Edited

I wonder does Sally have POA over Tim.

AWanderingFool · 09/07/2025 18:17

That statement. Trying to pretend that they really did invest with "Cooper" and that the money to the Hemmings was seperate.

Righthandcider · 09/07/2025 18:19

She's published a comprehensive rebuttal.

I think he’s got lovely eyes! I didn’t want to mention it, as it seems inappropriate, but his eyes make him look so benevolent and friendly. Only half-joking, but I can imagine interviewers (and Jason Isaacs!) meeting him and being taken in by how sincere and kind he looks.

Totally agree. I think he's quite handsome.

Fandango52 · 09/07/2025 17:23

That is interesting.

“Our story was born out of self-protection…We invented a lie that was more palatable. What was the difference between the two stories?

What ‘story’ is she referring to in this bit above though?

Their truth is they’re homeless because they lost their home & ‘it wasn’t our fault’. They think then, they are thought of as unsexy, unwashed ‘social pariahs’. So they invent a lie. ‘We had sold our home, looking for a mid life adventure, going where the wind took us’. They notice this latter narrative has real power & people love it.

Improbably this all happens after they meet a random ice cream van man, ‘Grant’ who is actually a multi millionaire in disguise, whilst parched & he invents a pack of lies about ‘living on his wits’ in Italy with only w knapsack learning about fine wines. In reality he studied at night school. Ho ho. But…then 3 beautiful blondes arrive. Two, a PA & masseuse, take Moth to another room alone to simultaneously anoint his feet & massage his back. Which causes much jealousy & bouts of slow self esteem for Raynor. All very fever dream ish.

HolyPond · 09/07/2025 18:20

Well, the statement is good. They’re being well-advised.

Yes the trust is gone and still Sally persists with Cooper. Tortoise media and the Observer will be having a field day.

Plus I have this feeling that these threads are being watched 🧐😁

Catwith69lives · 09/07/2025 18:23

The Observer's reputation (post Tortoise acquisition) is very much on the line. Let's see if the nephew sticks to his guns ( or is gagged by yet another NDA). Game on...

Looking at the letters that she has published on her Insta, the first one is dated from June 2015. It refers to various tests that were done in 2011, all of which were negative, and says he's fine to do his academic studies. Physio has been helpful. The letter referes to possible mild CBD/S.

What was the date of their post-diagnosis walk around Cornwall again??

Someone help me out here?

AWanderingFool · 09/07/2025 18:24

In her statement she very clevely separates the Hemmings and how they, the Walkers, lost their house. Otherwise, she would be accusing real people and opening herself up to legal action.

She can freely talk about "Cooper" because he doesn't exist.

It reads very well. What isn’t addressed may be telling. Have the Observer got it wrong?

Opened the floodgates now they have.

First thoughts.

I find the "Rebecca" account much, much more credible than the revisitation of the "Cooper story". Why would you take out such a loan from someone who owes you money? Why not take him to court to get your own money back?

The glossing over the embezzlement is particularly egregious.

I'm not medically qualified but it appears whatever is wrong with Mothtim is very unusual and "atypical" indeed. OK, such things happen, I'm not qualified to comment on it.

Treesdostandtall · 09/07/2025 18:27

I’m interested in how she became a book keeper at the estate agency. Surely you need at least some accounting qualification to get that job? How does that work? I don’t think being a law clerk would be sufficient..

AWanderingFool · 09/07/2025 18:29

I also think what the nephew said (think it's obvious now that he's been threatened with legal action) is sound.

He's very respected, and it would do nothing for him to come out with a load of bullshit.

I mean it's a bit of a stretch to imagine but perhaps she lied?

Maybe Moth actually passed years ago, but in order to keep the franchise going, she found a lookalike!

Maybe Moth really is Simon Armitage.

placemats · 09/07/2025 18:31

I'm going to suggest that posters don't mention the now supposed Christian names of the couple in question. Sally and Tim should suffice.

😏or maybe she started as a PA but then did some of the invoices?

DiamondThrone · 09/07/2025 18:33

YourAzureSeal · 09/07/2025 17:58

There’s a new post on Raynor’s Instagram containing some of Tim’s medical letters… comments still off, obviously!

Oh what effing tosh. None of those letters say that he has CBD, or any terminal condition.

(I am not a doctor, just reading some mild letters by specialists who seem a bit quizzical as to why he is there.)

HolyPond · 09/07/2025 18:34

Why not produce some legal documentation with ‘Cooper’s’ name redacted? Or show it to the Obseever journalist to prove that legal case happened as she says? That wouldn’t involve any identification of his children or anything. The Observer would just have to say ‘We have seen and been convinced by legal proof that this legal case happened as RW’s rebuttal claims.’

HolyPond · 09/07/2025 18:35

😀😀😀

(He has nicer hair than SA. Sorry, Simon.)
