Their truth is they’re homeless because they lost their home & ‘it wasn’t our fault’. They think then, they are thought of as unsexy, unwashed ‘social pariahs’. So they invent a lie. ‘We had sold our home, looking for a mid life adventure, going where the wind took us’. They notice this latter narrative has real power & people love it.
Improbably this all happens after they meet a random ice cream van man, ‘Grant’ who is actually a multi millionaire in disguise, whilst parched & he invents a pack of lies about ‘living on his wits’ in Italy with only w knapsack learning about fine wines. In reality he studied at night school. Ho ho. But…then 3 beautiful blondes arrive. Two, a PA & masseuse, take Moth to another room alone to simultaneously anoint his feet & massage his back. Which causes much jealousy & bouts of slow self esteem for Raynor. All very fever dream ish.
