Until today when DP told me. I was very surprised as it never occurred to me. I also can't believe that they got away with saying it on TV in the 80s during family viewing time!

"You're pulling my plonker" Used this in the 70s/80s

MaggieBsBoat · 06/07/2025 17:29

Definitely also a penis.
The truth can be two things at the same time. Amazing

SamphiretheTervosaur · 06/07/2025 17:29

No

It means you fool, muppet, daft sod, silly sausage

Pillock means Penistone

Plonker does not

menopausalmare · 06/07/2025 17:30

I thought plonker meant condom🤔

SamphiretheTervosaur · 06/07/2025 17:30

EveryKneeShallBow · 06/07/2025 17:23

Definitely a ruder version of pulling my leg - having me on - nah, you’re just pulling my plonker (used by male or female speakers).

Yeah, different use of the same word

incognitomouse · 06/07/2025 17:30

I've heard plonker used for both idiot and penis.

Yep, I know it to mean penis too although it's used more to mean idiot.

Weekmindedfool · 06/07/2025 17:32

Do you ever question your DP OP or do you just believe everything he says?

LemondrizzleShark · 06/07/2025 17:32

It is like twat meaning vagina. Most people saying “you twat, Colin!” are not calling Colin a vagina, just an idiot.

AMurderofMurderingCrows · 06/07/2025 17:33

What on God's green earth is a 'penistone'

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 06/07/2025 17:35

I think he means Pecker, the Plonker

Isn't it a town in Yorkshire?!

ClearHoldBuild · 06/07/2025 17:36

I was about 14/15 when fools and horses was on and my best friend wasn’t allowed to say plonker, her dad was really strict. I remember her telling me that her mum got tipsy at Christmas and asked her dad what it meant. (This is a woman who didn’t know she had sex the first time she had sex) It was a simpler time.

Pipsquiggle · 06/07/2025 17:37

Your DH is wrong.

It means prat /idiot

honeylulu · 06/07/2025 17:37

menopausalmare · 06/07/2025 17:30

Yes, me too.

I think a condom is referenced as such in the film Wish You Were Here. Though I was doubting my memory until @menopausalmare commented.

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 06/07/2025 17:37

It has 2 meanings, like so many English words.

"You're pulling my plonker" cannot mean "you're pulling my idiot".

My phone, for reasons unknown, autocorrects penis to Penistone

I do not know why!!

Maybe @SamphiretheTervosaur phone's autocorrect is a coy as mine!!!

In much the same way Scunthorpe is a town in Lincolnshire, I believe ?

NPET · 06/07/2025 17:43

Well I've checked the OED and you're right! The SECOND meaning of it anyway.
But I don't think DelBoy ever meant that.
The first meaning is simply "foolish or inept person", which is I'm sure all he meant.

ScholesPanda · 06/07/2025 17:45

I thought it meant stupid person. So if it's true then YANBU because I've never heard that before

@oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends

Never, ever, ever heard anyone say this. I've lived in lots of different regions as well.
