Don’t really care tbh. They were annoying twats then and they still are. But what do they care! ££££

That's how a rock and roll band should be. Worked for The Rolling Stones when the press were outraged with their haircuts and lasciviousness. Other bands are available

PlumLemur · 05/07/2025 13:29

It amuses me that people think outrage over band’s behaviour is some how something new. People kicking off about how Glastonbury isn’t about political messages or how punk or rock bands should be good little boys and girls. Controversy goes hand in hand with this sort of music and it won’t stop being that way.

Glitter is a despicable prick though.

@Ponoka7 "Our royals are really dodgy, as well"

Ain't that the truth. They always have been.

This :

Details of Anthony Kiedis' troubling sexual assault history

I dare not ask about the other artists mentioned either ...

Thanks. That's disappointing though, I cant believe I have never heard any of this I really like their music.

No. They’re just copies of proper bands. No comparison to rolling stones, queen, the Beatles. Poor imitations, at best.

Weren’t they just singing their own song ‘Hello’ which has lyrics from Gary Glitter’s song in it?

They haven’t purposely added it now.

Stop talking sense!

Lins77 · 05/07/2025 13:37

It's not like they covered a Gary Glitter song!

It's the perfect song to open with.

Beatles/Stones were copying Chuck Berry, Elvis,Carl Perkins and the Blues singers out of America esp Chicago. Queen were Led Zep, The Who. They added their own twist. 1st Rolling Stones album is all cover versions but you know who it is. Oasis no different.

@DurinsBane Neither was Jimmy Savile. I am sure he was innocent too. 🤔
I know who I believe.

There is a lot of very very strong evidence for Jimmy saville, or proof. He would have been charged and most likely convicted if he was alive. Jackson was alive for many years after the allegations first came out. I may be wrong, but I don’t think he was ever charged. Definitely was never convicted

@YesTonightJosephine the lovely late Sinead O'Connor detailed a really nasty evening she spent with Prince in the '90s. He came across as a complete psycho.

Again, so very, very disappointing to hear this ... bless lovely Sinead ...

Or maybe I’m back again.

I think most people will know it from good to be back.

tbh people who know Oasis know that it has always been like that. And that as a band with that in their catalogue it was the obvious choice for opener.

And it isn't a cover so much as samples bits of it.

swimsong · 12/07/2025 21:12

Apart from the sample at the end - which I don't know if they incorporate live - the track owes far more to The Beatles and and Slade than it does to GG, despite the shared writing credit.
