He's 18, an adult and he can do what he likes!

I know but 18 is just a number.

Yes, he is 18 and an adult now.

firstdayworries · 03/07/2025 22:07

Of course he should! I’d prefer my DC go to a rock club over any other club - he’ll have a great time!

This whole notion of putting adulthood in numbers term is non sense.I am looking for an advise/opinion from a concern and caring dad’s view point.

WhereAreMyKids · 03/07/2025 22:13

I've just googled it and it seems perfectly normal. What's the issue?

Idontjetwashthefucker · 03/07/2025 22:14

Why would you be concerned about an adult going to a club, what's the problem?

But in all honesty, you cannot stop him, he’s an adult. Better to let him go, make sure he has money for an uber and he will be fine x

Vitrolinsanity · 03/07/2025 22:15

Would it help if I told you my 18 DS finished his last exam on Friday last, came home, got changed and came home Sunday (because there was roast pork)?

vodkaredbullgirl · 03/07/2025 22:16

Why not he's 18.

WhereOnEarthIsMyPlanet · 03/07/2025 22:17

How are you planning to stop him?
Anyway assuming you mean Rock City in Nottingham I first went when I was 16. Probably wouldn’t get away with it nowadays! The biggest danger is getting stuck to the floor.

My19thNervousNameChange · 03/07/2025 22:21

Well 68 is a number too isn't it? Will you let him out then?

He's earned it.

Well… it’s a night club in Nottingham. Pretty non threatening. Sticky floors from all the spilled drinks.

I think I'd be more worried if I had an 18 yo son who didn't want to go do something like that.

Can't believe you're actually worried about it, and even thinking for a moment you should stop him. Is he going to instantly become a drug mule or something the moment he steps inside?

gamerchick · 03/07/2025 22:26

Dude he can leave home if he wants. Do you not trust your parenting that much that you have to keep him in a choke hold?

Unclench and let the bairn breathe.

My19thNervousNameChange · 03/07/2025 22:26

Go with him! That should cheer him right up.

You are right. This world is going crazy and sometime you need to be two steps ahead and pro-active.You might have seen on news that devastated mother in Bristol of that 18 years old lad who got dead with4 others friends in car crash that went down in bushes when lad was driving at 100 miles on a night out with lads. While I have my whole sympathy with that mom but I akways question where theses “ moms& dads” were when their so called “ 18 years old adults” go out and do all sorts of risky things.

too late to repent!!!!!!!

Idontjetwashthefucker · 03/07/2025 22:35

Very sad about those young men but there's not really much their parents could have done to stop this...it's not their fault
