DD8 is turning 9 soon. She’s having a party at the end of July but due to breaking up for school on Friday I gave the invites out last week.

she moved to this new school 3 weeks ago and has invited all the girls in her class (she’s having a cow girl theme).

iv only heard from one parent out of 15 she’s invited. She breaks up tomorrow so I have no way of contacting anyone to chase up etc.

Wwyd? :(

I wouldn’t panic because you’ve only just given out the invites.

At this time of year, I look in my dc’s bags about once every 2 weeks. One of the challenges may be that some parents (like me) may not look in them again until September when I’m clearing them out for the new school year. I suspect there are more parents who are a bit more organised and they’ll clear them out in the next couple of weeks.

A summer birthday is tricky and you will have lower numbers because people will be away. But give them a bit of time still. I also wouldn’t hesitate to ask other parents for phone numbers or to connect you with anyone they have details for. Still even with just a few girls, you can make it a lovely day.

I found that I had to chase up all the parents when my son was that age. Only one or two actually replied without being prompted. Luckily I had quite a few contacts, for the rest I just made sure I was at the gate early enough to catch parents. Despite the lack of engagement, most of the children did come!
Also children are notoriously disorganised and there is no guarantee they have passed on the invite.
