To having verrucas is a turn off in a relationship

I’ve had them for many years and I have lots of them. I’ve tried almost everything and nothing has worked. Is having verrucas a turn off in a relationship? I want to start dating again.

I mean, I wouldn't stop dating someone if they had veruccas. I wouldn't like it and I'd want to see them actively doing something to address it, but it wouldn't make me ditch them (unless they announced their verrucas first date or seemed obsessed with them!)

HTruffle · 02/07/2025 15:51

You need apple cider vinegar!

EmeraldShamrock000 · 02/07/2025 15:54

Wear a plaster.

I don't know, I had a few over the years since I've been with DH, can't say it was an issue, unless I wanted to pick it. One under my big toe for years, it disappeared.

My Dsis is a nurses aid, she has suffered for years, a 90 yr old lady gave her a tip, in desperation she tried it and it worked. Urine, wee in a basin and soak your foot in, if you've loads, if not dab the verrucas, don't rinse the verruca, cover with bandage plaster every morning and night, she had two nasty verrucas, they are dead.

BreakingBroken · 02/07/2025 15:58

Are you talking about plantar warts?
well they are contagious and yes it would.
You see a Dr. wash your floors properly and wash your shoes.

I second apple cider vinegar! File off as much as you can, dab on a little vinegar and cover with a plaster. Repeat every few days, mine are normally gone in a couple of weeks.

(advice is to use diluted vinegar, but I prefer to burn the b*ggers, just try not to get too much on your skin)

Does this work with warts too? I’ve got a persistent one at the base of my thumb. Have been treating it for a month with Bazuka. It’s shrunk but it’s deffo still there

BlueEyedBogWitch · 02/07/2025 16:02

DH caught them off me the first week he moved in 😳

He’s still here. The verruca’s gone though 😂

Yes, works great with warts too.

No you don't see a doctor about a fucking verruca... you buy Bazooka from the chemist FFS 🙄

Also- they are viral. They will go eventually but there's no magic cure...

thebigyearahead · 02/07/2025 16:12

Get rid of your veruccas professionally please. Do you go swimming, use yoga mats in a leisure centre, use public showers or walk around bare feet in public. If so, I don’t want to catch them.
Do you have kids? They probably have them and if they do any of the above, they’re giving them to their friends too.
Please do the responsible thing and get them treated

BreakingBroken · 02/07/2025 16:13

They are often treated with liquid nitrogen in a drs office. If the situation is severe you see a podiatrist (Dr).
They are contagious and like preventing any viral illness means cleaning the bathroom, floors if you walk bare feet and shoes.
It’s lazy not to take care of your health.

Rispknee · 02/07/2025 16:15

I saw GP when DS had a verruca (we were there for something else and I asked what the recommended treatment was).

He said, over eith a plaster when swimming, no need for the socks we used to wear and he'd be happy to share a pool - which is just as well as we did in fact below to the same health club at the time.

He also said don't treat it. Leave well alone and they heal on their own eventually, leaving you with immunity. Which is what I've since done for both DS and me, and neither of us have ever had another, despite being regular swimmers.

LavenderHaze19 · 02/07/2025 16:15

I mean, I don’t like them but it’s not as if they’re genital warts (which would be a no!)

When I’ve had them I’ve only ever been able to get rid of them by having them frozen by a chiropodist.

BoredZelda · 02/07/2025 16:19

I was told by the chiropodist yesterday that I had a verruca. I’m never barefoot in public places, nobody else in my house has a verruca. No idea how I got it.

Peridot1 · 02/07/2025 16:20

I have some at the moment for the first time ever. No idea where I got them. I dont go swimming. I’ve booked to see a chiropodist tomorrow as they are quite sore and I just want them gone.

There was a thread a few weeks ago but someone whose son had them and a few people recommended a homeopathic remedy - thuja something I think.

They are never cryo'd anymore.,.not in the UK anyway.
No evidence it works.

Catsandcannedbeans · 02/07/2025 16:26

I feel you. I used to be fucking riddled with them. I got them burned off with acid at the chiropodist. I think it was expensive because I remember my mum and dad arguing over who paid.

I don’t think it’s a turn off tho, trust me most men are either boobs or bum.. you might have an issue if he likes feet though.

Sounds gross but a friend of mine did the same with her daughters and it worked as well

ThreePointOneFourOneFiveNine · 02/07/2025 16:29

My daughter’s had a really stubborn one on her foot for years. We’ve given up trying to treat it. We all share a shower and the rest of us haven’t caught it. It looks like it’s got a thick layer of skin grown over the top of it now so I’m leaving it alone because I think if I do anything to expose it that would increase the chance of the rest of us catching it.

DiscoBob · 02/07/2025 16:31

I guess it would be if you led with it and liked to talk about foot fetishes.
If someone isn't touching your feet surely they won't catch them?

WhereOnEarthIsMyPlanet · 02/07/2025 16:38

I don’t think DH looks closely enough at my feet that he’d even notice if I had a verruca. I guess if he had a foot fetish maybe? One of my daughters had them a few years ago and we tried everything to get rid of them. In the end we gave up and they disappeared on their own after a few months. Apparently they’re viral and your immune system will clear them eventually.
None of the rest of the family caught them from her.

Tink3rbell30 · 02/07/2025 17:09

Yes as they are contagious.

You can catch them from someone by using the same shower etc.
