Why is it very difficult to buy a long length t shirt

hostleg · 02/07/2025 13:56

I just want a long length T-shirt. Being 5ft 8 and overweight. So many T-shirts are short in length, fitted. Not brilliant if want to cover up.

Can’t afford much

Primark has a load of very long T-shirts

apapuchi · 02/07/2025 19:12

Matalan have some at the moment, a little boxy maybe (but that's good, not fitted or slim fit at all) but long (hip or even bum length depending on how tall you are). I saw white, black, navy, grey, peach and bright pink. I got a couple and took them on holiday to use as a cover up getting out of the pool etc, they're great 👍

Next tall range?

I was going to suggest next, im not tall but some of their tee-shirts are loose fitting and long.

Murdoch1949 · 02/07/2025 22:21

There are loads. Called tunics. Try Vinted.

DinoLil · 02/07/2025 22:26

I got a multipack of bum covering tshirts from Next, yeah, two years ago, but I bet they still sell them.

dayatthepark · 02/07/2025 22:29

Uniqlo's oversized are beautiful- supima cotton and a perfect fit for (overweight apple shaped) me.

XenoBitch · 02/07/2025 22:30

I have been wearing one that I got from Primark, but I have had it a while so so not sure they stock them anymore.

Appleday55 · 02/07/2025 22:31

I always buy men's tshirts in primark. I buy men's shorts too.

So comfy

TizerorFizz · 02/07/2025 22:39

I’ve just bought 3 from H&M. Surprisingly long! They are very good for a modest price.

Tarkan · 02/07/2025 23:13

I’ve got some decent ones from Yours and Long Tall Sally. As others have said men’s t-shirts tend to fit a bit longer as well.

I’m longer in the torso but with short legs so I need long T-shirts and short length jeans and trousers, as a teen I used to shop in the tall section for tops and petite section for trousers in the same shop. 🤣

Just picked up some long v-neck T-shirts in plain colours from Next. £7.50 or 2 for £14.

Could you link to them please?

Holditcowboy · 02/07/2025 23:33

I hate boxy t shirts . If you’re booby they make you look like an actual box. I quite like long line vests to wear under linen or viscose t shirts, which drape better (primark / matalan / h&m).

MeanMrMustardSeed · 02/07/2025 23:35

Def try fat face

Mossstitch · 03/07/2025 00:53

I'm same size and tend to buy mens but have had some from asda womens section (I always look in their sale section online usually half price) that are sold as relaxed fit that have been long enough to cover the necessary when wearing leggings, usually graphic ones though if you don't mind those. Primark tend to be shorter I find, OK with jeans but not leggings. If you want plain ones fruit of the loom unisex online are usually good quality and long.

Caligirl80 · 03/07/2025 00:58

Have a look on vinted - loads of longer length stuff on there. Next has stuff for tall women. So does GAP. Primark also has long length shirts - but you have to search for them. Vinted has them all in one place. I am tall and find stuff there all the time. I hate the boxy/short stuff - it's never flattering (even on the ladies who have washboard abs lol!)

i’m slightly torn on this. I love the baby tees and shorter tops available at the moment as they work well for me (short woman, size 10) BUT you are correct there aren’t as many longer styles available currently. So although I’m delighted to see 90s t shirt trends making a comeback, I don’t think you’re being unreasonable either. If we get a full 90s revival there’ll be both tiny tees and oversized tops available everywhere. We can but hope!

Strawberries86 · 03/07/2025 01:02

SHEIN longline and Asda men longline. Primark 2xl also have some. I live in long T-shirts.

Tiredofwhataboutery · 03/07/2025 01:22

I’ve found Tesco really good, I’m 5 11” they do a ribbed t shirt (long sleeved though) that I have about 8 of, comes in different colours every season. It’s seems to skim rather than cling which gives a flattering silhouette. It’s my default workwear with a pair of linen trousers these days.

Emmaaaa76 · 03/07/2025 02:15

Asos maternity are longer in length. They do a 3-pack of white, grey, black.

Bjorkdidit · 03/07/2025 02:54

Men's t shirts are no good if you have hips as to not be tight on your bottom half they're 3 sizes too big on top.

sashh · 03/07/2025 06:00

Have a look at men's T shirts in a supermarket.

mrschocolatte · 03/07/2025 06:25

I hate short length T-shirts so much. I now go for the oversize fit to get the longer length. Cos do a great one for £35 which washes well and keeps it’s shape and colour. For something more affordable H&M have a range in loads of colours for £9.99 each.

I saw 2XL in these baby tees in Primark yesterday. Please if you are that size - don’t wear them!

I hate these t shirts I hate that they ride up and don't fit properly. I am older and probably not for me, I like a proper fitting t shirt .
