Banana throwing!

colacubes · 24/05/2008 21:05

Got a letter home today from ds school. He has been in trouble for throwing a banana at a fellow pupil marking his blazer! The mother has complained and demanded a written apology to herself and her son!!

Ds has been put on a 2 day detention, given lines, and been reprimanded for not playing sensibly. The other boy, is a friend, they are in the same class, and as far as I can tell they have not fallen out, just being boys!!

Am I being unreasonable to think, this is all a do about nothing??

Dear Mrs Fussaboutnothing,

My son and I extend to you our most sincere and humble apologies for the anguish to which you were subjected by the recent banana throwing incident.

We will, of course, reimburse you for the cost of dry cleaning your son's blazer and will also pay for whatever psychotherapy is deemed necessary by your GP to help you both come to terms with the banana-induced emotional scarring.

I pledge to refrain from purchasing bananas or allowing my son to have access to them until he has left school.

Yours sincerely,

Ms. Colacubes

Yanbu, this is ridiculous. Ok, tell him off, give him a warning as to his future behaviour if they must, but really- a written letter??? How ridiculous, how is the woman going to cope if her son really needs help?

YANBU his mum needs to grow up by the sounds of things.

Sanctuary · 24/05/2008 21:26

Throw a banana at the mother and tell her to get over herself and make her demands elsewhere

O.k fair enough to the detention but not for 2 days and no way write a letter to the child or mother

ladymariner · 24/05/2008 21:28

lol sanctuary, totally agree

colacubes · 24/05/2008 21:35

Lol, may well throw some rotten fruit!! Bloody unreasonable of the mum, she must be a right pain in the ass. Glad I am right

Thanks

my ds left a half eaten banana in his blazer pocket once. It made one hell of a mess. She's being pathetic though. I bet her kid isn't allowed to get dirty or messy. It annoys me when parents are like this. It's anal! Would she be asking for a letter of appology from mother nature for getting her child wet when it rains aswell? Or from the school for not replacing the soil with tarmac because he has mud on his trousers? The school are just as bad. OTT or what!

cupsoftea · 24/05/2008 23:18

How can a banana leave a mark on a blazer that couldn't be wiped away?

cupsoftea · 24/05/2008 23:19

Not a squashed banana in a pocket (or bottom of school bag as happened recently) but by throwing.

Seashell71 · 24/05/2008 23:20

Print Jenni's letter and sign it! YANBU.

P.S. Banana does stain permanently tho. If it doesn't, please let me know how to clean banana stains from bibs! Ta!

avenanap · 24/05/2008 23:20

I expect that there was a bit of mush if the banana was half eaten. Still anal though.

cupsoftea · 24/05/2008 23:22

Never had a problem with banana just bung in the wash & comes out fine. If it dries just peel it off.

avenanap · 24/05/2008 23:26

my ds has a felt like blazer. I had to take it to the dry cleaners for them to sort it out. It really did make a right mess. It was all in his pocket. I scraped off as much as I could but it was all imbedded into the fibres and had an interesting smell. His blazer's brown so you couldn't really tell after though. I suppose it depends on it's colour and what the balzers made of.

colacubes · 25/05/2008 00:36

The blazers are ok for the machine, so no dry cleaning charges, I've never had a problem with banana stains as I can remember!

As for letter, think I will go in and ask, why such over kill for a thrown banana!! Ask her to explain why ds has to write such an apology, then when she answers I will tell her IMO to much, if he had beaten someone up, stolen, or been bullying the boy, then I would be all for all punishments, but seems very extreme. It wasnt more than, go on I dare you, so he did (plonker) the boy turns around pulls his face, ds says ha ha funny boy ran it under some water all the time they were apparently all taking the mick out of each other.

Then next thing mummy dearest wants a god damn inquest into bloody banana gate!!

Oh well its going to be awkward, usually stand by schools rulings but this is just too stupid.

Why don't you complain about her son flicking water at yours, just to get even of course .

Assault by banana. Could have been the next Agatha Christie novel. The rule's totally OTT IMO. They will be banning fruit in school next.

colacubes · 25/05/2008 00:57

lol, probably will ban all flying fruits, just seems so bloody ridiculous, dont wanna go in there guns blazing with the "my sons perfect" crap, because he's not, but banana flinging is not a crime just yet I dont think.

I remember my brothers getting up to all sorts at school, infact ds came home last week with his shirt pocket hanging off, some boy had run past and yanked it, but thats boys. Infact what makes it more ridiculous is that its an all boys school, and there was I thinking they will be geared up for boys, all boys play and no girls in the way, when all the time they are training them up to be bloody softies!!
