Selfish cannabis smokers wafting smell in home

Neighbour invited some friends or family over. They are in back yard smoking cannabis which is wafted into my bedroom. Got nothing else but to close window.

Never spoke to the neighbour since he moved in 8 years ago.

Whenever weed is mentioned you'll get people falling over themselves to sound as cool as possible, telling you to chill out and comparing it to cigarettes (or in this case, barbecues 🙄). It smells, the people who smoke it smell and they're usually insufferable too.

They're not wafting it into your home on purpose. They're smoking in the garden and unfortunately the wind happens. It could be cigarettes, vaping, barbecued food, bonfire..

If it's a regular occurrence just politely say you've got asthma or something and could they smoke further away from your windows? I can't imagine they want to cause you annoyance or upset.

You say you've never spoken to them before. Is that through choice, or they seem horrible and scary? I'd try and approach them in a friendly way ideally.

It's really important to inform yourself before making such statements please. Alcohol is a drug. As is cannabis. If alcohol was created now, it probably wouldn't be legalised. Both alcohol and cannabis are gateway drugs. Have you not heard of cannabis induced psychosis? Please be mindful.

I’m enjoying a glass of wine in my garden right now. My neighbours all have their windows open. Despite that, I can guarantee that not one of them has any idea that I am quietly drinking a glass of wine.

Yes maybe you. Have you been in a city centre on weekend nights when all the drunks are about.? A&e department's have loads of people attend whose injuries are caused by alcohol

I’m not worried about anybody getting cannabis psychosis, it serves them right. I just worry about the smell outdoors cannabis smokers create. Do it inside your own home, and keep your doors and windows firmly shut.

I hate it too @Hdlll Fucking vile smell. And the worst people I know smoke it.

We have a couple of neighbours near us. (3-6 doors down...) One of the women - aged late 30s - has posted some drivel on Facebook about how 'Cannabis is less harmful than alcohol' or some shit like that... and 5 reasons why it's 'OK to smoke it.'

Yeah sure if it's now and again, maybe, perhaps once or twice a month.... but she smokes it 5-8 times a DAY. She even smoked it while she was pregnant. Stupid cow. Her little boy is 5 and a half now and is way behind at school, can't talk very well, and has illness after illness, and is always in and out of the GP and hospital. According to her, it's nothing to do with her smoking weed all through her pregnancy, and smoking it around him since the day he was born. Oh nooooooooo! 🙄He is just a sickly child who is just struggling a bit at school.

Nothing about the way I live in my community means that other people have a headache/feel drowsy just because of my choices.
Living alongside other people does of course mean pros and cons, give and take etc - but....... done well...... it shouldnt mean other people being inconvenienced/annoyed on a regular basis.

Me too. It makes me feel so ill. Even just a little whiff of it.

The sort of scenarios where weed is getting in your house/ smell everywhere are rarely the scenarios where a line individual is having one joint.
