My 15yo car passed it's MOT today with nothing needing to be done. 🚗

We've had a baby blackbird, and dad feeding them, on the fence sporadically during the day.

Aw thanks!

I'm on holiday in England from Ireland at the moment and have found people so pleasant and polite.

My DB and DSIL had their long awaited IVF baby this morning, mum and baby doing well and a very long painful journey had a happy ending.

I got a gigantic and I mean a gigantic bar of Cadbury Whole Nut reduced to 94p today in my local corner shop. Pig in shit.

I’m mostly here for the hoglets! I never knew that’s what they were called!

My sweet peas are finally flowering and the scent is wonderful.

The actual day of our solar panels being installed we gave energy to the grid. I am so stoked I have not taken from the planet and that others have been able to use our excess which has also not been taken from the planet. I just feel so good about this

Edited as just seen the post above when I posted. For the first time we have had decent sweet peas and my up until now indifferent hollyhock is stunning this year

Thank you for starting this thread, im having a really rough few weeks with lots of worries which are ongoing, I am so down, this has been a lifting read.

My nearly 18 yr old came in from his first day of work and he has talked about it all night. It's not his forever ever job but he will be 18 in just over 3 weeks and will be paid £12.31 an hour. My highest rate of pay was £11.11 and I was 45. I'm hoping he still loves when he is actually working and not just filling in forms and he was gobsmacked that he will get paid for today even though they did nothing but full in forms and walk about.

So this made me happy as he will be earning his own money and not relying on us or the government. He has decided he is saving to upgrade his computer then start saving for a deposit. Very sensible boy as I would be spending it in alcohol and new clothes for every night out lol.

Today I had the financial ombudsman call me to say my complaint has been settled and I’m nearly £2k better off. Sat in the garden cooling off after dinner watching the bees buzzing round the wildflowers we sewed earlier this year was so calming. I also saved and released a bumble bee and a butterfly caught in the conservatory today ☺️.

Took ds(11) swimming after school yesterday, not to a lesson like he does every Friday, but to a different pool that is a lot closer to my house (rather than his dad's house, because he started lessons there before we split up).

The pool is warmer, cleaner, a bit smaller and less busy. It's within walking distance. I'm going again tonight once he's gone to his dad's, but I'm not expecting to have half as much as fun.

Ds is an absolutely fantastic swimming buddy. I'm trying to loose weight and get fitter, and he is aware of this.

He's so competent in the water now, can swim faster than me now but is so incredibly encouraging, with lots of "come on mum you can do it!", and "do you need a hand?", and "let's just see how fast we can do one more length!".

He's competitive in the best kind of way (we were both showing off our diving skills) and we had an absolute ball. He's quite delighted to have 'absolutely lapped' me, I was delighted with how supportive he was, and how stressful the whole thing wasn't. It was just good vibes and genuinely fun exercise the whole time. I can't wait to take him again!

Long Lost Family is back on the tv! New series.
Also my son has been nominated for an award at school. It's been a difficult time lately but there are always silver linings if you look for them.

Also I have just ordered an Indian takeaway! Lols. Sort of man made good news.

VanGoSunflowers · 02/07/2025 17:17

I took my 12 week old puppy for his first walk today and he was golden! Even (mainly) remembered the walking to heel training I had done with him around the garden and it was amazing to see him sniffing around and loving life!

Here is a pic of him for additional good vibes:

Please tell me some good news

Sorry to hear that you're going through a tough time.

My good news is that I found my bracelet which I lost four months ago. It's the only piece of real jewellery I own (a gold and diamond Fope bracelet). When I initially discovered I'd lost it, I tried to claim on my contents cover but was told I didn't have cover for loss away from home (i assumed I'd lost it whilst walking my dogs). Anyhow, I was saying hello to my dog who died a few months ago but is buried in the garden...and hey presto, I suddenly saw something glistening next to where she's buried...my bracelet!! I'm absolutely over the moon and actually shed a little tear 😢

SusanSHelit · 02/07/2025 18:56

@VanGoSunflowers gorgeous pup, and sounds like such a good boy too!
