Is anybody buying the Italian Riviera on Thursday? It’s going to be our new family build and I love the pictures I’ve seen of it.

Need urgent advice from you. I live in Legoland. DH been very ill over past year but now doing well. He has taken up Lego. It is everywhere. One room entirely Lego boxes everywhere else covered in completed Lego. What do you do with it? He’s not keen to dismantle his life’s work. I want it gone really - don’t mind a few offerings. I need to reclaim my house it’s even creeping up on stairs…

Troubledwords · 05/08/2025 06:55

I did have a boxes purge recently, decided to get rid of them, as they were taking up too much space and realistically I'd never be able to break the sets up to sell them, so why keep the boxes.

I don't dismantle sets, not even the Christmas ones, I might removed a roof or chimney so it fits into the box better, but that's as far as I go.

LegoTherapy · 05/08/2025 09:28

I nest the boxes and keep them in various places-in cupboards, under ds’s bed, in wardrobes. We have over 120 sets. They are worth more with the boxes and I’d never throw away the boxes. We have Lego on the stairs-it looks great! What don’t you like about it @ClaudiaNaughton?

I actually recycle the boxes, but keep the instruction manuals. I used to keep the boxes, but I had to get rid of them eventually due to lack of space.

I keep all the books but only the boxes for the significant builds or collectable pieces - I store them in the attic
As our collection has grown - we have to rotate what is on display - rest is in storage boxes in attic and under guest bed

TheWayTheLightFalls · 05/08/2025 12:12

I also recycle the boxes and keep books. I have a sideline selling new Lego and I’m sure I horrify my buyers by posting their new boxed Lego sets with my empty boxes as packaging.

Same here

MiniFig · 05/08/2025 12:30

i just keep building new glass cabinets and taking other less important things to the charity shop...

TheWayTheLightFalls · 05/08/2025 13:40

TopCashback is again offering 10% cashback at Lego.com, crossing fingers that it holds for the 7th @LegoTherapy and anyone else with their eyes on the Riviera set. Just note that it can't be combined with Insider points iiuc.

hattie43 · 05/08/2025 14:48

I really liked the Riviera set until I saw the original which was so much nicer , now I’m undecided .

LegoTherapy · 05/08/2025 15:39

I’m collecting insidee points and have £188 so far ready for a set nearer Christmas

TheWayTheLightFalls · 05/08/2025 16:02

I think you can accumulate the points w/Topcashback, just not spend them in conjunction. £188 is impressive, I always exchange mine for something far too soon.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 06/08/2025 16:33

At a technical museum today (rock n roll, me) and the oil rig infographic included a Lego oil rig and minifigures representing all the different jobs on board. Very cute!

@TheWayTheLightFallsthats seriously cool! I like the idea of a technical museum.

Excited to be heading to the big, dirty, smelly city to buy the Italian Riviera today 😃

MiniFig · 07/08/2025 10:05

the lego oil rig is great, which museum is it? @TheWayTheLightFalls

It’s in Vienna - Vienna Museum of Science & Technology.

(Not on the topic of the thread but I have to say, I am totally sold on Vienna as a destination for a summer holiday with kids. Museums are not free but they are fairly priced and incredibly high quality, and the local playgrounds, pools etc are top-notch. Also city-centre water misting stations which I am living under whenever I see one!)

LegoTherapy · 07/08/2025 12:51

We have the Italian Riviera, Italian delivery truck GWP, Fortnite Brickheadz GWP and valentines chocolate heart box GWP. We are very happy with our lot today!

TheWayTheLightFalls · 07/08/2025 13:01

Any bubble tea today @LegoTherapy ? Grin I’m craving one but nothing doing until we’re home.

I’ve ordered the Riviera + GWP online. £25 cashback hopefully which makes me feel a bit better!

LegoTherapy · 07/08/2025 13:22

No bubble tea but had two Starbucks coffees! I’m really sleepy despite all the caffeine but I understand caffeine has little effect on those with ADHD. I love the way we are on first name terms with the Lego shop staff now. She saw me and asked if we’d come in for the Italian riviera as I told her last week we’d be in today for it. She always talks to Ds about his creations and makes us feel valued as customers. I’m surprised got all those GWPs because the Fortnite set wasn’t with it on the website. Ds has said to sell it

Eagerly awaiting the new Walle set.

ReginaaPhalangee · 07/08/2025 22:46

I dismantled my Disney castle, cleaned it all, and now me and DH doing the build together mode

LegoTherapy · 08/08/2025 09:32

I really love the Morticia’s Cottage set. Halloween Lego is my favourite along with Christmas. We have quite a good collection now. The Halloween stuff comes out on 1st October in our house and the Christmas stuff on 1st December. No Christmas tree until 2 weeks before Christmas though.
