Silly things that give you the rage

Maybe its cos I'm peri but we were out for a meal and someone was eating chicken wings and being very meticulous about using a knife and fork to eat them and very slowly. It was holding up the next course for everyone.

Do you have any examples of getting the rage over something silly 🤣

"The Andrex and deodorant adverts. I have no desire to see crotches and arses in close up."

I had the unpleasant experience of seeing that deodorant advert on the big screen at my local cinema, sweaty crotches et al. I'm still traumatised now.

RJ2023 · 22/06/2025 22:11

The fact that everytime I open any website I have to set my Cookie preferences before I can use the site. I get the logic behind it but it is very much using a sledgehammer to crack a nut!

It’s called a ‘vulnerable sleeve’.

My 15:year old DD has nails that are neither long nor painted, but she still hoiks her sleeves over her hands, and worse still, pokes holes in the cuffs so she can noodle on her phone! Kids! 😡

JockTamsonsBairns · 22/06/2025 22:51

I'm Scottish, and draw is pronounced differently to drawer.

Drawer has a very audible 'r' at the end of it, whereas draw doesn't?

HopefulBeliever · 22/06/2025 23:00
  1. The phrase ‘them books’.
  2. People driving in the middle lane slowly.
  3. My neighbour putting my bin out before I’m ready (not finished filling) then moving it back while I’m out at work and lining it up backwards.
  4. My other neighbour who take in parcels but never give them back.
  5. The caravan that did 26mph in front of me downhill on a 60mph road today and then kept braking!

I think it's called cat fished by a fiat 🤣🤣🤣

I drive a Fiat and I get so annoyed by other cars 'cat fishing' me! Lol.

My rage this weekend has been to do with work and having to reapply to work there in September!

In some accents the "er" is pronounced. Similarly, DH and I have an ongoing game of "How many monosyllabic band names (discounting any with 'The' in front) can you think of?" Today DH suggested Wire. I pointed out that in some regions that would be two syllables, or at least one and a half. Pedantic, moi?

I’m sorry, but no. Any accent pronouncing the “er” is incorrect. There’s a right way of saying it, and it’s one syllable only.

GoodOldTrayBake · 22/06/2025 23:06

Bluevelvetsofa · 22/06/2025 21:59

In my world ‘drawer’ has two syllables, ‘draw’ has one.

Affect and effect. You are affected by something. Something has an effect on you.
Step foot. No, it’s set foot.

The Andrex and deodorant adverts. I have no desire to see crotches and arses in close up.

You are inhabiting the wrong world. “Drawer” has one syllable! Oh my god I most definitely feel pure rage right now at the thought of people going around pronouncing the “er” thinking they’re saying it right!

"Saying right"

You wot now? 🤷‍♀️

I.e. I wouldn't criticise people's accents while mangling the English language myself, if I were you.

aintnospringchicken · 22/06/2025 23:14

People who walk at a snails pace 3 or 4 abreast taking up the whole pavement and you can’t get past them without stepping out onto the road.
Fingerprints on computer screens that are not touch screens. No need for it( in my opinion)
Leaving one square of toilet paper on the roll. Why?
People standing on a busy bus or train who won’t move towards the back so others can get on.

Oh gosh I know - I now put my super market trolley behind me for a buffer zone - and in dunhelm!

a friend once said I just step backwards and go “oh sorry I didn’t know you were RIGHT behind me”

Omg I’m stealing the trolley buffer zone idea! Thank you! Haha. Like just get the fuck AWAY from me if I don’t know you! 😂

Haha the irony of your edit 😂 You’ve given me a good chuckle before bed. Have a good night!

When people talk to me through a yawn. Or carry on talking through a yawn. It drives me mad!

Peanutlicious · 22/06/2025 23:20

People who called covid 'COVID-19'.

So unnecessary. We've only had one covid so drop the 19 snd why the capitals?! Particularly, when people refer to it as COVID-19 multiple times in the same passage.

I know Iabu but it drives me mad.

Tartankilt07 · 22/06/2025 23:25

People who yap incessantly on their mobile phones during coach journeys

People who smoke right in the doorway to shops, restaurants etc

People who insist on waiting until they have packed every last bit of their shopping before searching in their bag for their purse to pay

Cyclists who hold up traffic on busy roads by cycling in the road instead of on the cycle track that runs right alongside.

lovemycbf · 21/06/2025 23:46

People sniffing repeatedly….just blow your nose 🤬

Oh god yes. I was on a train back in April I think, and this woman was sniffing really loudly about once a minute (but irregularly). It was constant. I don’t know how she could stand it.

i had to change seat very quickly. Thank goodness the train wasn’t busy.

InterestedDad37 · 22/06/2025 23:34

People who walk straight out of shops onto the pavement without looking, and don't even notice that they've made you stop. I bet they're the same people who do pull out from junctions without looking, when driving.
Ooh, I could crush a grape! 🤔😀

As a hobby genealogist, I feel your pain. I could make an entire thread on Ancestry rage.

Oh, please do it! I've got about 90 examples in my head already!

JockTamsonsBairns · 23/06/2025 00:04

GoodOldTrayBake · 22/06/2025 23:07

Nope.

Nope what?

nakaji · 23/06/2025 00:07

People holding their phone perpendicular to the ear. Never necessary. Not even for voicenotes. You look stupid. Keep it flat to your ear you twat.

BellevueRDV · 23/06/2025 00:16

People who post on Facebook seeking some sort of advice and start their post with “Bit of a strange one,” or “Bit of a random one,” and whatever they’re posting is neither strange or random and just some banal nonsense. I don’t know why but it enrages me.

Sanctimonious people with non-rhotic English accents who think that their way of pronouncing words is the only correct way to speak. It might be in your corner of little England, hen, but it's not in everyone's.
