Just as the title says😊 might be an incredibly boring one haha but just thought I’d give it a go in case anyone had any questions on the topic!

*editing to say sorry, I only realised after posting that I accidentally posted in AIBU instead of AMA, trying to work out how to get it moved over sorry!

On what?

Nose job? Middle toe reduction?

You'll get very different questions depending on the procedure.

Turkeytummytuck · 20/06/2025 17:47

Ooh what did you have done?
Any regrets?
UK or abroad?

Icanthinkformyselfthanks · 20/06/2025 17:48

@RubyOrEmerald , what surgery did you have? What bought you to your decision? How did you choose your surgeon?

Forehead lowering/reduction surgery

no- absolutely no regrets at all, it was the best decision I ever made 😊

I had it done in the UK. I very briefly considered going abroad but didn’t really look too much into it because I was too scared after hearing horror stories about plastic surgery going wrong x

I've never heard of that type of surgery before. Dare you post before and after pics?
I had surgery in Turkey a couple of years ago and have no regrets, I did a lot of research beforehand and had amazing results.

I had my forehead surgically lowered. Honestly I’d said for years that I wanted it done then one day I bit the bullet and booked a consultation and got it. What really gave me the push was discovering I could have it done in my home city without the extra hassle of having to travel to London etc for it. I didn’t really look at various surgeons tbh, he was the guy who did it for this company in my city and he had done it multiple times before and had great credentials etc x

How does one go about reducing their forehead? Do they have to cut skin out and kind of pull it?

I need a nose job as I have a broken nose/deviated septum. Praying I'll be able to get it on the NHS as it's causing so many issues now. Been getting worse for 25 years!

How much did your surgery cost? And how did you fund it?

Yeah I’d heard about it but didn’t know any specifics about it really tbh. I’d heard more about hair transplants but it wasn’t the right option for me with my hair type

aw that’s great you had a good outcome from your surgery too! It’s so scary isn’t it but it’s such a relief when it goes well.

haha I’ll maybe see about posting an after picture but honestly it’ll be difficult to get a before picture, I deleted a lot of old pictures of me after I had it done haha

Didn't even know that was a thing!

Why does one need this?

ittersbitters · 20/06/2025 17:57

Is it to do with hair loss?

It took about 2 hours or so. They basically measured it all up and drew all over me and I believe I had a large area of my forehead cut off and then my hairline pulled down. I’ll be honest, I’m quite squeamish with things like that and didn’t want to know the specifics other than what I absolutely had to know. Off the top of my head I think I had around 2.5 cm of skin removed but that might not be 100% accurate, I can’t remember exactly

I remember afterwards finding out that after some forehead surgery you get small things inserted under the skin to make it stretch, sort of like expanders? I actually can’t remember if I had that or not. I didn’t need to go back for any other procedures or removing anything so I don’t think I did.

it was a pretty brutal procedure but so worth it personally for me

Also sorry I somehow missed the rest of your post!

ah I’m so sorry to hear about your issues. Hopefully you can get it on the NHS as if it’s causing symptoms then it’s a health thing rather than just purely aesthetics like mine was!

it was just over 6k if I remember correctly. I used my savings for it, I had done a lot of overtime so luckily had built up a decent amount of savings

In my case it was purely aesthetic. My forehead was my biggest insecurity for my entire life. It dominated how I styled my hair, did my make up, how I dressed etc and my entire life was planned around doing tricks to make it look lower. Now I don’t need to do any of that and it’s such a weight off my shoulders x

ittersbitters · 20/06/2025 18:08

So it's about having a smaller forehead? Didn't think was a thing as I said. Was it painful?

I’m not sure if maybe for other people there’s health reasons behind it but I can’t think of any tbh, and for me it was definitely purely aesthetic to have a smaller forehead

yeah I’ll be totally honest it was awful. I had it under local anaesthetic and cried the entire way through it. It wasn’t exactly painful during it, but it just felt like a LOT of pressure. And like someone was pulling at my skin (which I guess they were). It was brutal

the worst pain set in that evening. It was awful for about 5 days then subsided and my recovery was a breeze after that. Day 3 was probably the worst and I was sobbing regretting ever doing it. By day 5 when it had all resolved I was realising it was worth it and how happy I was that I’d had it done

Thank you for answering both my questions. It does sound pretty graphic stuff but I'm glad you're happy with it.

Thanks also for your kind words about my nose! X

Sorry but I'm struggling to see the point of this thread.

You had an insecurity issue regarding your looks.
You had surgery to correct what you saw as a fault in your appearance.
You are happy with the outcome of the corrective surgery.

So why the thread?

Are you trying to convince other women that cosmetic surgery is the way to correct their insecurities?

blueshoes · 20/06/2025 18:23

You are brave. It is worth it if your forehead is no longer the thing that bothers you everyday.

I am curious. Will your forehead grow back in the sense that your skin will stretch over time? Did the procedure raise your eyebrows?

FlamingoFloss · 20/06/2025 18:23

If it’s made you feel better about yourself then it was the right thing to do. I lost a lot of weight and was left with a lot of loose skin on my tummy and very droopy boobs so had a tummy tuck and breast uplift. I could do with skin tightening on my arms and thighs too but I can live with those

Um, I’m not at all? Can you find the bit where I’ve tried to convince other women to get plastic surgery? I’ve said how brutal it was, but how personally for me i don’t regret it.

I have very mixed opinions on plastic surgery and I don’t think it’s the best choice for everyone at all. I think the laws about it should be much tighter to prevent vulnerable people making irreversible choices.

what’s the point on any thread on here? Or any AMA for that matter? What was the point in your comment? It’s a forum to post things and people might have questions about it, good or bad, and that’s fine. If you don’t like it or see the point, nobody is forcing you to stay😊

Do you have a fringe so you could cover your forehead? If so, will you grow it out now?

Aw thanks 😊

It’s funny because I have a list of insecurities and things I’d like to change (as most of us do!) and yet I would never ever think to get plastic surgery on anything else. But my forehead insecurity was much bigger than that and objectively it was really, really big. Since getting it done I feel like a completely new person.

to be totally honest, I’m not sure if the scar area will be slightly prone to getting saggier or looser when I’m really old. They said it shouldn’t be, so hopefully not, but it’s still a relatively new surgery

But in terms of the size, it shouldn’t ever get bigger or go back to how it was- the skin has definitely stretched a little over the months since the op and it got slightly bigger by a few mm or so but it was initially very tight and now it’s just relaxed as the inflammation has settled x
