Am I the c#%t??

Walking my cavapoo today in a big open and empty field. He trots along happily off the lead, if he comes across another dog he will go and give them a sniff and be on his way.

usually if I see another dog on a lead I will put him on a lead too. I didn’t see this woman soon enough as she appeared from behind a bush. Big gnarly dog on a lead XL bully type dog. My dogs starts trotting in her direction, she goes mental shouting “go away, this is a dangerous dog, get your fucking dig away” etc. I called Doggo over and put him on a lead, no drama. She is still mouthing off at me, to which I replied “all right calm down!” This set the mad woman off shouting that I’m a fucking idiot and her dog would rip mine to bits and I shouldn’t let him off the lead. To which I replied “you’re the one with the aggressive dog you can’t control, who is the real idiot here?” I then got called a butch and a c£&t!

Now is it me that is a c£&t? Or the person with a massive aggressive dog that was literally pulling her along??

CoubousAndTourmalet · 18/06/2025 21:54

If her dog was on the lead and yours was loose then yes, you are the problem, not her. I have a giant breed dog that is always on the lead. She is not the least bit aggressive in any way, but I don't like small dogs rushing up to her, because 90% of them start yapping, snapping and snarling in her face. I don't think we should have to put up with that when we are quietly lead walking and minding our own business.

The person admitted to you that her dog is reactive towards other dogs and that is why it is on the lead. You should respect that. Her choice to have a large powerful dog breed is not your business.

Only a cunt would have an XL bully type dog so…

This
they own a XL Bully which tells you everything you need to know

I love it when people try to insult you but they can’t use basic grammar correctly

I think the poster got her message across pretty well even though her (shock horror) grammar was incorrect.

the only person looking silly in this thread is you

Careful

you’ll be chastised for using a divide sign instead of percent.

You so right...my phone doesn't have the correct symbol...it's ÷ only! I think people understand what I'm saying hopefully

Gloriia · 18/06/2025 21:55

cantthinkofausername26 · 18/06/2025 21:48

I do completely understand this. Which is why I do get him on the lead as soon as I see someone.

Yes but it doesn't work does it? Hence the thread.

So let's all agree she sounds rude but may well be exasperated by other dogs off lead. So keep yours on the lead unless in an open space.

Really rude to comment on other people's spag particularly as you've made the odd typo yourself.

Plantladylover · 18/06/2025 21:56

yes you are

Lostworlds · 18/06/2025 21:56

My dog is really anxious, she’s always on lead and walks well but panics when unleashed dogs come up to her. I understand you try to put your dog on a leash when you see other dogs but this was one unexpected and didn’t leave you with enough time. She was fair to shout and ask for you to remove your dog but she didn’t need to be abusive about it.

Maybe next time you’ll need to be aware of the surroundings and try make sure your dog is close by when passing behind hedges etc.

I did.

But then I need help with my reading so I ran it though AI first

OP. That was sarcasm in case you don’t get it.

Helenabell · 18/06/2025 21:56

Exactly or why don’t you muzzle your dog @EllyRoff You clearly can’t control it and a dog that unpredictable should be muzzled

Ironic that you deem this a judgy comment when you clearly are the judgy one. You own a fluffy little dog that lucky for you is well behaved and allowed off lead. Some of us own rescue dogs, who we have spent a lot of money training and trying to get over a traumatic past. My dog is perfectly behaved on a lead, will allow other dogs on leads near to him (after paid training) but does not like to be sniffed or have other dogs run at him. He is also perfect with my children. Have some respect for other people that own dogs that just want a nice walk without your little darling running up to them.

You sound great rehoming a dog and investing in it with training etc 🏆

Silly little dogs, usually yappy ones, running up to a leashed dog are incredibly annoying.

You might think that someone who starts a thread entitled 'Am I the c#%t??' would have rather a thicker skin than the average Mumsnetter and be up for hearing it straight.

Apparently not.

I’d get cross not because my dog is reactive but he’s a rescue and nervous around other dogs! It’s common courtesy not to let your dog go up to random dogs whether they’re on a lead or not! Unfortunately you’re the type who gives other dog walkers a bad name. So yes you are the c@@@

OneCalmFish · 18/06/2025 22:01

Reading your responses to any criticism and your comments about the woman and her dog I think you’re a cunt, certainly coming across as one. I would love to hear the other woman’s version of events I’ll bet they differ greatly. If your off lead dog got bitten by her dog you’d probably blame her and be crying out for it to be put down. Take some accountability, learn to leash your dog in public. No more being called a cunt, problem solved

You should never allow your dog to approach any other dog that’s just asking for trouble unless it has a solid recall it shouldn’t be off lead , mine is always on a lead now as she’s getting old and deaf , we met an idiot out walking her two dogs with out any leads at 6 in the morning , she was still in her pyjamas and had her cup of coffee in her hand , needless to say both her dogs charged at mine she had no control no recall absolutely hopeless , her excuse was she didn’t expect to meet anyone at that time in the morning , we just stood still whilst she chased her dogs around us , my old girl was getting a bit anxious and would have reacted if they had made contact with her , but it’s made me wary even at that time in the morning

And OP should be respectful of other dogs! It’s a basic principle you do not allow your off lead dog to run up to other dogs! My dog isn’t reactive but she’s nervous around loose dogs!
