Why does everything feel so different now?

I’m not sure exactly how to describe it, but something just feels very different and off compared to 5/6 years ago
Even looking back at social media and how friends interacted with each other on Fb and Instagram, how people seemed more connected.
It just feels like something is missing in the world, some excitement or happiness

Is it just me? Looking back at photos, things felt different and much happier

@smallglassbottle

there's no dial back to restore a sense of equilibrium.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head with this sentence. Bad things in the past had an end in sight, these days the bad things are unlikely to end and it feels like we are hurtling towards oblivion. People are very different now, the world is in a permanent state of mess - mad men in charge, terrorism that is never going to stop now, climate change, social media changing the way people think, narcissism on the rise, costs escalating, nobody’s incomes ever stretching far enough, constant threat of nuclear war, people wanting to get one over on each other, AI stealing peoples jobs. It’s like nothing can go back to a sense of peace or status quo.

Posters saying just get out there, be happy, do fun things, meet with friends - are missing the point. Plenty of us have that attitude and want to make the most of every day but are finding it difficult because others are not like that anymore!
