I’m really hung over and the last thing I need to hear is this little twat blowing a whistle which they can’t even blow properly.

AIBU to shout out the window to stfu ?

YANBU.

Octonaut4Life · 14/06/2025 08:51

It's definitely unacceptable to be blowing a whistle at this time in the morning!

ThreePointOneFourOneFiveNine · 14/06/2025 08:51

You would be unreasonable to shout that. You would not be unreasonable to say something.

ThePunnyPeachDuck · 14/06/2025 08:51

Seriously who thinks this is a good thing to do on a Saturday morning when it’s muggy temperature

What does the temperature have to do with it? It would be an annoying thing to do even if it was snowing.

Auroraloves · 14/06/2025 08:53

Is the little twat a child or an adult?

CommissarySushi · 14/06/2025 08:53

I don't think 8am is too unreasonable. An hour is reaching the limit though. You wouldn't be unreasonable to go and say something. Politely, if possible though.

Latenightreader · 14/06/2025 08:53

Are they outside? Could you throw a jug of water and claim you thought it was a cat?

Jojimoji · 14/06/2025 08:53

YANBU

I would be shouting too.
But depending on little twats age I might leave the "f" part out 😅

Because all your windows are open?

Overthinking22 · 14/06/2025 08:54

Was it a house party...? I would only let my kids have one in a park at most.

We could close the windows if it was colder obviously

It's unacceptable to blow the whistle under these circumstances, and it's also unacceptable for you to use misogynistic language.

Ah yes, didn’t even think of that 😁. We’ve got aircon so my windows are rarely open in the summer.

8am on a Saturday morning is absolutely unreasonable I’d never let my child stand in the garden blowing a whistle at 8am 😬

Although to be fair I wouldn’t let them do it at any time. I don’t want to listen to that any more than the neighbours do.

MsFelicityLemon · 14/06/2025 08:58

Oh they were around mine yesterday morning. It's a warning about the impending apocalypse. Stay were you are and await instruction.

You've got warm weather you lucky duck. Raining heavily here - makes running from zombies much less enjoyable.

KeineBedeutung · 14/06/2025 08:59

The whistle probably is a bit much but, equally, your hangover isn't their concern. Next time you're chatting maybe just say 'you maybe don't realise, but [insert child name]'s whistle does carry quite a bit, and it's a bit much at 8am'.

Maybe I just live in a loud area then. I don't have kids old enough to do that, but all my neighbours kids are outside making noise by 7:30 on a Saturday.

MsFelicityLemon · 14/06/2025 09:00

Actually take that back - you're a duck bet you like rain.

Sorry for being inconsiderate.

Elseaknows · 14/06/2025 09:15

We get this a lot where we live. Loads of kids in the gardens at 7am onwards on weekends and holidays, with balls being blasted off fences and walls, screaming, trampolines going, whistles (even one of those kazoo type things) 😳 and sometimes it drives me bonkers but atleast they are having fun, not getting into mischief.
I prefer them all being outside than being indoors.
I don't like it when they are ripping flowers out of gardens, nicking stuff out of gardens or playing ding dong ditch (or whatever the fuck it's called) 🙈 so it could be a lot worse OP.

Ahsheeit · 14/06/2025 09:20

I absolutely would shout out of the window for him to be quiet. An hour with a whistle at any time of the day would be too much. Even 5 minutes.

BernardButlersBra · 14/06/2025 09:24

STFU is tempting (and would be rather satisfying!) but l would go round and ask the parents to keep the noise down. Why do so many people not want to parent their children? Zero chance of me letting my children do this, least of all early on a Saturday morning
