Cousin wants us to stage intervention on behalf of stepdaughter

One of my cousins is married with two children, older than toddlers, and his brother is getting married. They are invited and older one is the flower girl.

His wife’s 14 year old daughter is not invited. She lives with cousin for the last eight years.

She does have a relationship with her biological father but this is relatively new.

This cousin’s brother is getting married and essentially Cousin with stepchild has asked us to threaten to boycott wedding unless step niece is invited.

I am going to do no such thing but I am tempted to say something but my DH and siblings say not to.

My aunt is distraught but blaming cousin with stepchild not groom.

It’s a bit like saying “my son’s sister” rather than saying “daughter”.

Your cousin’s brother is just your cousin, surely… and vice-versa. Presuming I just be misunderstanding.

I was trying to elucidate as people said they didn’t understand the relationships.

My two cousins are brothers to each other. They are the son’s of my mother’s sibling AKA KNOWN AS MY AUNT!
Elder has a stepdaughter who is not invited to younger one’s wedding.

I referred to my female cousin and she is not their sister but a mutual cousin from my mother’s other sibling AKA KNOWN AS MY UNCLE!

If I had just said my cousin people wouldn’t have known which of the brothers I was talking about.

The best you can do is have a word with the groom and hope he has a change of mind. It is inexcusable to exclude a child that has been part of your family for 8 years.
