Are the media being unprofessional re Air India crash?

The Air India crash has at one survivor (so far). Heard that the media are bombarding the relatives of this survivor. I find this unprofessional and harassing, especially when the survivor’s brother was on the same flight.

I wish the media will stop trying to get stories from anybody as sensational. It’s not.

Also no need for news specials with presenters asking questions to correspondents and experts who don’t know the answer as the info hasn’t been available etc. Then rephrase it. Again so unprofessional.

Absolutely not being unreasonable OP.

Another layer of utterly distasteful is AI generated "stories" on Facebook alleging footage is from inside the plane just prior to the crash. I reported 2 this afternoon as misinformation but won't hold my breath as they were just about vague enough to claim "not THAT flight" but there were enough features to make the context absolutely clear.

Ugh to it all.

The Sun (ok what did I expect?) says that the voice recorder black box has been found which it says is "expected to reveal the pilots' panic".
Assuming that the pilots were panicking is a horrible slur on the two men. Pilots are trained to calmly keep trying to save their plane and passengers and there's no reason to think they didn't do this until the very end.

Sadly it's pretty much the standard sensationalist headlines.

The media have pretty much zero in-house expertise when it comes to aviation and sadly some of the wheeled in for quotes experts aren't great at times either - I know because I worked with a couple.

I suspect it's the same for most slight speciialist topics that the MSM cover but it's only obvious when they try reporting on something you actually have some expertise in.
