Does this reply sound OTT? Dating

Wellisayohyeah · 09/06/2025 20:26

Someone I'm dating, he messaged me about 7:30pm last night, and I didn't reply until 9am today, I got in late last night and just fell straight asleep.
We normally text every few hours, we send about 2 or 3 texts a day.

Anyway I messaged saying 'sorry for replying late, I just fell asleep last night' he replied saying 'aw it's ok, just as long as you're alright 🥰'.

Does that sound a bit OTT from him or is it just me overthinking it?

Straight in there with the preferred riposte of thick misogynists, I see

😂😂

@Wellisayohyeah what sort of reply would you have had from your previous partners? Would you have been pissed off if it was the other way round and he hadn’t replied all night?

Sound like a perfectly reasonable reply to me. Just wondering whether you’re used to something different.

Yabu. I think it's a very nice and caring response not OTT at all. Calm down and stop overthinking and just enjoy dating someone who is glad that you are alright 🙂

Well given some of your rude responses, it's understandable you think that.

Likewise.

Likewise.

I'm not the one scrambling to find fault in a perfectly nice response to a text. I'm happy with my responses, which accords with the way the voting is going.

This thread reminds me of that scene in an Amy Schumer film where they’re so used to men never calling that when one rings her the day after the date her friend immediately announces that he must be pervert and to not answer.

Op, on that single text, he sounds perfectly nice.

Good for you 👍🏼

I wasn’t scrambling to find fault.

I was simply stating I think it’s sad as a society some people feel the need to apologise for “replying late” when texting someone in casual conversation the next day. People should be able to live their lives without being in constant contact with others.
