Just totted up how much money I’ve spent on clothes since September- a bit shocked.

I used to keep note of my clothes spending from the start of the school year and fell out of the habit, Just did a tally and have spent just over 2k. I’m a bit shocked but probably shouldn’t be. I shop in a mixture of Jigsaw, Whistles, Marks etc. How does that compare to your spending? Children have now left home so have more disposable income so no debt.

I’ve probably spent the same as you over the same time period. My £2k includes quite a few Vinted and M&S purchases but also a high end / high price Coach Trench Coat, a Coach cross body bag and another pricey designer bag. I also made just over £600 selling my older stuff on Vinted during the same time and that £ went towards the new items. I’ve now got quite a good stylish and versatile wardrobe that I intend to keep for a while or sell on. My new years resolution was to take really good care of my clothes and to buy more second hand.

Heavens, are you ok?
I did read the whole thread. No bitterness intended, and apologies if it came across that way because it’s clear you are offended, it was not my intention, I simply gave the honest feedback you prompted.
Just a thought though, with respect it might be better not to ask for feedback in your posts if you don’t actually want an opinion that doesn’t match yours, we are after all entitled to an opinion on MN.
Enjoy your shopping and spending, it’s no one else’s business, and better not to make it so if you don’t want it.

Clearly you have no understanding of tone, nor indeed of the point of a conversational thread. You didn’t give me your opinion, you told me I was an attention seeker and now you are doing faux outrage. Your patronising tone might be more effective if you knew the difference between were and was…

Im probably about the same as the OP, about 200 a month.
But I did lose 7 st the last couple of years and I'm buying slightly more expensive brands now coz I want my clothes to last.
Its not like I have any other expensive hobbies or outgoings though so I'm not too bothered.

.
Again I apologise, with any kind of written communication it can be difficult to decipher ‘tone’, and do see that from your side. There’s no misunderstanding your tone towards me though, it doesn’t come across pleasant in spite of my sincere apology on my last post. My intention was never to patronise you, your post came under the title of AIBU? and I answered your question.
I’m also baffled that my lack of grammatical intelligence offended you so deeply, I don’t think my mistake of ‘was’ and ‘were’ should have made a difference to your misunderstanding of a patronising tone.
If you refuse to accept my apology there’s nothing I can do, but I would respectfully suggest you draw a line in the sand with this pettiness, life is too short.
On a final note, you did place your post as an ‘AIBU’… people voted… the result speaks for itself.
