Yes, please bring it back. Removing useful and fun functionality due to a tiny minority of trouble makers that could receive a warning/be banned is OTT.

OP I don't think MN pay any attention to AIBU polls so doubt this likely to go anywhere

It's hardly "useful". You can write the post and add the emoji if you really want to show that you appreciate someone's humour.

The direct emoji was trialled and there turned out to be negative aspects that HQ decided outweighed any fun element. It's not the end of the world.
