Bought expensive chocolates and they're disgusting

Visited a chocolate shop in North Yorkshire yesterday and after paying £30 in the cafe for not much (2 tiny tubs of ice cream, a GF brownie, a regular brownie, two teas and two juices) I treated myself to some fancy pick n mix chocolates.

They taste stale. The fudge one tastes like soap. The peach one was so disgusting I spat it out, and I adore peach flavored stuff. I've had a rubbish week and they were meant to be a little treat to myself ☹️ it was £8 for four little chocolates. Wibu to contact them and let them know?

I'm off to raid the kids' stash from lidl which will be nicer!

Why is everyone really over invested as to whether the OP posted on Reddit or not? Now that is weird.

Edited

It’s because if she didn’t post it, it’s very weird that it was there.

People are curious as to why and how.

In all honesty there isn’t much to say about the chocolates: they were past their best. If I were op I’d post them back to them, ideally with a receipt of purchase to show date, but they will recognise them as theirs anyway . But what more us there to say?

But the duplicate post mystery is curious indeed.

My guess is that the peach flavored chocolate was sitting there a while and stale, as I could not think of a worse one to choose...

The Reddit post is a bit weird, but maybe OP was just not wanting to out herself here.

I mean, YANBU but it would be best to tell the store rather than mumsnet if you want a refund or some kind of action to be taken?

She’s asking for opinions on whether contacting the shop would be a reasonable course of action. That seems pretty normal and practical to me.

£8 is a lot of money for four chocolates.

why does it matter if OP also posted this elsewhere, on a different forum? I have done similar in past when trying to get more info on a health issue, for example.

Well, ordinarily it wouldn’t but she denied she did.

A poster explained upthread how (and why) bots/AI can do it. Might be the answer?
