Could you walk a mile in these shoes? (literally not figuratively)

It has been YEARS since I’ve not been pregnant or breast feeding (three back to back). I’ve finally got round to shifting that last bit of baby weight and feel great.

It’s my SILs birthday coming up and we are doing a bit of a night out. I think there will be roughly a mile or so of walking all in all. Not too much.

I used to dress up and wear stilettos ALL the time pre babies. But I just don’t know if I’m being ambitious wearing these shoes and bar hopping.

Back in the day these would have been sensible heels but I’m very out of practice. Want to feel glam. Getting my make up done to feel more me!

They aren’t too bad, are they?

If it was a mile in one stretch, then no. But if you're getting a taxi in and out and then just walking from one bar to another, probably OK.

FrodoBiggins · 28/05/2025 12:27

In how many separate journeys? And will you be standing when you get to destination/s or mainly sitting.

The shoes are fun!

BaronessBomburst · 28/05/2025 12:27

I could. And they're lovely!
I couldn't drive in them anymore though.

Phunkychicken · 28/05/2025 12:27

Absolutely no for me. But I can't wear even one inch wedge heels so prob not the best person to ask, got married in flip flops!

They are lovely though - I wish I could

5foot5 · 28/05/2025 12:28

Only you know what you can do but there is no way I would be able to walk any distance in those. Not even back in the day when I wore smart shoes for work

Baylor · 28/05/2025 12:28

It will be broken up, not one go. We will be stopping at the restaurant, pubs/bars. I just know that there is a mile between the restaurant and the my SILs favourite bar. But plenty of stops along the way

Stop and starting Would be fine.

madaboutpurple · 28/05/2025 12:30

I don't wear heeled shoe at all. I can walk in flat sandals.

turkeyboots · 28/05/2025 12:31

Not me. They look very high and my feet would go all puffy.

Hoolihan · 28/05/2025 12:32

Yes probably, with some sitting down in between. They look pretty stable and not crazy high. They're really nice - go for it.

DoYouReally · 28/05/2025 12:32

No and I love heels and high ones too.

There's zero support in those sandals, zero, it's a high heel with tiny little straps at the front. No support and zero cushioning. Your arch will be very stretched and all weight will shift to the ball of your foot.

It's not the height that is the issues - it's the structure and lack of support.

Gemmawemma9 · 28/05/2025 12:33

Yeah they’re fine. A chunky block heel makes such a difference to comfort I think!
They’re lovely shoes 🥰 enjoy x

andtheworldrollson · 28/05/2025 12:34

They don’t look well balanaced - I suspect you would
clump rather that glide anywhere

Renabrook · 28/05/2025 12:35

No chance and no i am not taking a second pair of shoes i only wear what I can walk all day in

notimeforregrets · 28/05/2025 12:36

I'm 44 and overweight and I could walk in them, yes.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 28/05/2025 12:36

Not a chance. I wouldn't even wear heels like that to stand around at a party though!

latetothefisting · 28/05/2025 12:36

Impossible to say..some shoes in that style you could wear all day, some would hurt after 2 minutes. It's not just heel height and style, but the shape of your individual foot, padding in the sole, tightness of the straps, material (those look quite plasticy so more sweaty and less give than leather or suede for example), the amount of support, etc.

Have you actually bought them or just looking online?

Lmnop22 · 28/05/2025 12:48

Some heeled wedges might offer a little bit more comfort and support than these which are very strappy which I always find makes for the most uncomfortable shoe!

cheezncrackers · 28/05/2025 12:51

If you've been at home in trainers and slippers for years I suspect your feet will hurt if you go straight from that to wearing heels for a night out. If you don't have any foot problems though you should be able to manage it. I think I'd try them around the house first and see how comfortable they are.

MsTamborineMan · 28/05/2025 12:56

Yes I could easily walk a mile in those. Just be prepared if there's going to be a lot of standing in the bars

jljlj · 28/05/2025 12:56

God no

Islagetmycoat · 28/05/2025 12:57

I couldn’t walk to the end of my driveway in those, but I don’t wear heels so I’d struggle in anything. They’re very pretty but look very uncomfortable.

Delphigirl · 28/05/2025 12:58

Why don't you bring some flats or flipflops with you (bag size dependent) just in case. I forsee that the heels will be fine but the straps might cut in to your toes.

YinYangalang · 28/05/2025 12:58

I agree. Take some flip flops in a bag with you.
