Plumber in toilet for ages when I got home

Had a boiler service today - was on school run when he wanted to arrive so left the garage key accessible and opened door from garage into house so he could check what he needed. It wasn’t the usual one we have, someone who worked for him, so not sure what message was passed on. Arrived home after drop off and went to offer him a drink, but no sign…until I realised downstairs bathroom was locked. I have a 2 year old so he would definitely have known we were home, and front door is right next to toilet. He came out about 15/ 20 mins later!!!! He immediately shut door behind him and I didn’t dare open it for hours but window had also been left wide open.
I am totally totally ok with being asked to use bathroom, I understand people need to go. But I felt so freaked out to come home, know he was in my house and him not appear for SO long?!! Is that ok?! He hurriedly said he’d needed the bathroom and rushed to garage. I think it’s just the weirdness of never having met him and him walking through my house and being in the house without me having a clue who he was.

would this freak you out?!

What?

@ohyesido
'I don’t want strange men I’m not married to...'

How many strange men are you married to?

The obsession with tradesmen's bowels remains oddly strong.

It's the same angst as weddings and baby showers on MN whilst in RL nobody gives a shit, pardon the pun!

ohyesido · 21/05/2025 07:52

@TwoLeftSocksWithHoles exactly none, hence why none are going to poo in my manor

Meanttobeworking · 21/05/2025 08:02

You left a key for him so he could let himself in so there’s no point in being freaked out he was in your house. I know that you didn’t intend for him to be in your bathroom but using the toilet is not really unreasonable is it?

OneAmusedShark · 21/05/2025 08:30

Not accusing anyone, but I bet the poo trolls are loving this thread!

🤣

I wouldn't be happy about this at all. I'd complain to his boss. It doesn't take 20 mins to have a poo. And don't leave someone to enter your house when you're not there. Re-arrange or ask the to wait until you're home from the school run.

I agree. Very unprofessional to be in the toilet that soon so long after starting work. He should have gone at home before starting work. Disgusting to spend so long in someone’s home.

You think he actually engineered it, shouldn’t leave home before a poo?

Like he knows the exact timing of his bowel movements? And should work around them?

Oh the joy of regular and reliable shits….

You arrived home when he was mid-shit.

Did you expect him to greet you doing the penguin walk with his jeans around his ankles?

Haha 😂 😂 😂 what is it with uptight ladies on this page and freaking out that tradies use the toilet

LoafofSellotape · 21/05/2025 08:46

queenofthesuburbs · 19/05/2025 21:07

Well it does appear that their mothers never taught them to "go" before they leave the house.
Without fail, it's the first thing they do at my house!

How do you teach someone to shit on demand?

Missey85 · 21/05/2025 08:47

ohyesido · 20/05/2025 20:48

Not for men I’m not married to poo in

You mean your a stuck up cow who thinks your above tradies? I hope he sneaks back and takes a huge dump on your porch!

Hi, he might have bowel problems. Ibs or other things going on.
Is rather him sit in there 20 minutes than cack himself.. Just as you walked in..

lol i thought while writing. HOWEVER I would say - I fully agree with him not walking out with trousers round his ankles. That would’ve been ever so slightly more awkward. However - 20 minutes?!! I don’t get men’s obsession with needing so long on the toilet - I don’t think I’ve ever spent 20 minutes having a poo in my life. 20 minutes when you’re in a strangers house when you know they’re outside?!

As someone with a bowel condition. It takes as long as it takes. I sometimes spend hours on the loo as I don’t dare get up. If you try and speed things up you can burst piles which can then get infected and leave you in a right mess. I wouldn’t be worried about 20 minutes. He was clearly embarrassed so if he could have finished earlier I’m sure he would have. I hope you didn’t say anything about the length of time he took.

Very unprofessional to have a basic human bodily function. How dare he! Go to the papers!

Gosh some people are thick on here 😂
