AIBU to use We Buy Any Car.com ??

Has anyone used WBAC.com?? We have a small run around to sell, probably not worth much and don’t want the hassle of selling privately.

Has anyone used them or a similar company? Or are they a complete rip off??

Not WBAC but have used MotorPoint, quick, easy, reasonable price took the hassle out of selling at a time when I didn’t need any more stress.

Cherubneddy · 12/05/2025 19:17

I used them when I didn’t want the hassle of a private sale. Got a reasonable price, actually more than the family run local garage had offered to give me.

Doggymummar · 12/05/2025 19:20

My friend works at motorway and they seem pretty ethical. I've sold through wbac but not bought

ProfessionalWhimsicalSkidaddler · 12/05/2025 19:20

They are a rip off but they also save so much hassle. I’ve sold privately and hated all the tyre kickers and some were aggressive, some were cheeky and some were just arseholes. I’ve used motorway who were fantastic as a company but the roadmen that came to pick up the car were exactly what I wanted to avoid from private sellers. Two of my neighbours even came out to ask if I was ok from seeing them - and we aren’t all that friendly just the usual hello. Last car I sold was to wbac and it was £100/200 quid less than motorway and it took away all the stress, annoyance and hassle.

i sold the car for 3200 and the person who purchased it advertised it for 6295 so you could sell it for slightly more privately (possibly) but it’s usually traders that come when trying private so just not worth it.

if you do make sure you take the v5 out of your name online. They will do it as part of their process but it takes a few days and it’s legally your responsibility so not worth the worry of someone driving and speeding and you having to appeal the ticket.

Jc2001 · 12/05/2025 19:20

I used wbac before and they were fine. Very hassle free, but obviously you won't get as much as you would have done if you sold privately.

ProfessionalWhimsicalSkidaddler · 12/05/2025 19:21

I’ve also used Arnold Clark who were easy

Nicklebox · 12/05/2025 19:36

There are other companys that do the same thing but pay more. we found one who came and collected the car from our house which suited us better and we got more money than wbac

Summerbay23 · 12/05/2025 19:38

Thanks everyone, sounds like they aren’t too bad, will be interesting to see what they offer.

@Nicklebox don’t suppose you can remember who you used? Thanks

I got about 40% more through Motorway than WBAC offered me. Get a couple of quotes.

19lottie82 · 12/05/2025 19:39

Motorway are better and offer more IME

Drawings · 12/05/2025 19:40

We used motorway and it was so easy, would defo use them again

Neurodiversitydoctor · 12/05/2025 19:41

I used WBAC perfectly happy with them and the service very straightforward. Worth the ££ IMO

JustGoClickLikeALightSwitch · 12/05/2025 19:41

Another one for Motorway. And WeBuyUrCar, randomly.

WBAC - if you visit their website more than once before going ahead, they drop their offer price on each subsequent visit.

wheretheheckissummer · 12/05/2025 19:42

Try Evan’s Halshaw. They have beaten WBAC quite considerably on several cars of ours, friends and families

Just a tip try a few diff branches (try diff post codes) we took ours to one in a ‘nicer’ area and got £500 more.

Yes but if you leave it long enough you get emails saying they’ve upped their price so can get it back.

ShanghaiDiva · 12/05/2025 19:44

I used them to sell my mum’s car: decent price and hassle free. Dh did a little research beforehand on top price for the car (from auto trader or similar? ) and price from WBAC was near the top end.

Sunshineaftertherain1 · 12/05/2025 19:45

I used WBAC. My car was worth around £2500 but had an issue with the engine and was about to die, so I couldn't take it to a proper garage and I wouldn't have sold it privately knowing it would break.
The quoted me £2300 and I got £1500. I was happy given the fact it would cost more to repair than it was worth.

MaybeItWasMe · 12/05/2025 19:45

I used Motorway and it was great. The person who bought it was a local dealer but it saved me the time and effort of schlepping round all the different garages.

Hadalifeonce · 12/05/2025 19:45

We used WBAC. The online quote was quite misleading, when we went to their porta cabin, they offered a lot less. I enquired why the discrepancy, and was told the online price is for a car in perfect nick, I remarked that it is rubbish to think a 15 year old car with 100K plus miles on the clock would be in perfect nick, they should adjust their algorithm.

Whatever they offer online, they will say it’s not worth that much when you get there

ladyofshertonabbas · 12/05/2025 19:47

Wbac were fine, not the highest price but absolutely no hassle.

Well, that is exactly their business model. Get you there then offer you less. Take it or leave it.

ExitPursuedByABare · 12/05/2025 19:53

I’ve used Motorway twice. Hassle free both times.

hobblingAlong · 12/05/2025 19:55

I have used them several times. Cars were a few years old so not very old and in good condition both inside and out (no stains or tears in fabric seats etc) and they only reduced the online price by around £25 for scuffs on the wheels or the odd ding in a door.
