Has anyone used WBAC.com?? We have a small run around to sell, probably not worth much and don’t want the hassle of selling privately.

Has anyone used them or a similar company? Or are they a complete rip off??

I’ve used motorway and WBAC. First time motorway offered the better price second time WBAC so try them both.

My brother used them and was quite pleased. He could have got maybe a couple of hundred more selling privately but for not having the hassle he thought it was worth it.

I had a Mini Cooper S that jokingly I said to DH about valuing, and we actually sold to them as they were offering nearly £2.5k more than the dealer was for part ex! We held off and waited another 7 days and they actually increased the offer. They didn't even look inside the car, just checked over the reg plate and tyres - all done in under 20 minutes. Brilliant service.

I've used them and Motorway. On both occasions, the offer price was drastically knocked down. WBAC will look for excuses to get it cheap.

We used MotorWay but same basic principle, I think. Nothing unreasonable about using them, just be honest about any faults.

With motorway, the value the car and then auction it through their platform, so you don’t always end up with the amount they initially say. But the difference wasn’t much, and you can always reject the final bid if you really don’t feel it’s fair.

We just sold our old car to them Friday. The price is reflective of assuming people want a quick hassle free sale so will take a lower offer. We ran a few quotes and could have got more with motorway and other similar places but they wanted lots of pics and to be honest we just needed the space on drive for the new one.

You will get more through a private sale but if you don't want the hassle WBAC are a reasonable option. They checked the chassis number matched, asked to turn the car on and looked at the bodywork. No test drive. Make sure you take all relevant information for service history and if the wheel lock nut is there as that will impact the offer. All done in 30min. They do charge an admin fee which is taken off the offer price and if you want a faster payment that's an extra charge but it's free if you're happy to wait 4 days.

I'd use them again as an alternative to scrap but if I wanted/needed a decent price I'd probably shop around.

We got rid of our 13 year old Citroen to WBAC it had a litany of issues they gave us £2500! I only paid £7000 for it 6 years prior
ETA we'd been offered £1000 part ex for it

I think it’s important to note that when motorway give their quote, it’s a very educated guess. I can’t remember the figures but the car I sold to WBAC was noticeably less than what motorway quoted but once it had gone through the auction and I received an actual offer, there was approx 200 quid in it. I’d also assume that the motorway purchasers would have used something to knock it further from my previous selling to them.

ProfessionalWhimsicalSkidaddler · 13/05/2025 11:43

Additionally, if it goes through auction at motorway you don’t have to sell to them so you could go to motorway, wait for the auction and then nip it to wbac so you can compare.

Sparticle · 13/05/2025 11:45

We’ve used WBAC three times and as long as you got with your eyes open, expect them to drop the price a bit, they’re fine.

SeriaMau · 12/05/2025 19:51

Well, that is exactly their business model. Get you there then offer you less. Take it or leave it.

Right but OP is asking about these companies and may not know this so it's worth the PP saying. That's how opinions work. 🤷‍♀️

ForRealCat · 13/05/2025 11:46

Be aware that they may drop the offer when you drop the car off, which happened to us. We put in the details, got a decent offer, arranged the drop off, and they dropped the offer considerably. I can’t remember whether it was a paperwork or insurance issue, but we were pretty stuck having to take their “revised” offer. Seemed they knew at that point they had us over a barrel.

roses2 · 13/05/2025 12:02

I tried selling myself but got lots of low ball offers and agressive men, I felt very stressed and intimidated as a woman.

I tried all the sites webuyanycar, motorway.com, carwow etc. Motorway.com gave me the best price.

Be aware that these dealers all use the same sites. I listed my car a few months ago at the same time on both carwow and motorway.com. Motorway gave me £250 higher cost. The dealer who collected told me he also bid on carwow and he pointed out some very minor seals that needed replacing and knocked the price down by £250 when he came to collect so ended up being the same as what he bid on carwow. I accepted it as I just needed it gone, mot coming up and new car already arrived.

BabyJaneHudsonII · 13/05/2025 12:07

I’d recommend WBAC. I got more from them than any other outlet for a battered, 14 year old diesel with engine management warning light on.

Mind you, I took the guy ( who I’d never met before) some unsolicited donuts as a shameless bribe! He was delighted and I certain he pulled out all the stops he could to up my price.

Greggs glazed ring donuts, best £1.50 I spent, got me an extra £70.

BasketballHoopla · 13/05/2025 12:10

We got a lot more from Motorway than WBAC offered
