To not get into partners car after “2 pints”

My partner regularly goes for pints after work which annoys me but I don’t voice it as I don’t want to come across as controlling, we have a 1 year old together and I often think why wouldn’t he rather come straight home to us as when I finish work I’m running to see my baby

he gets so angry and annoyed at me when he comes home from the pub and we were due to go somewhere in the car but I then refuse because he’s had a drink. I can’t drive so he does all the driving.

I feel uncomfortable getting into the car with someone that’s had a drink within the limit or not, also I’ve caught him out numerous times having more than the 2 drinks he’s said so I don’t know how much he’s really having.

am I being dramatic?

It’s an absolute minefield because he genuinely could be right and 2 is fine

but there’s too much to chance and it literally is 50/50 if he’s over or under the limit

we all make our own judgement calls on this he’s made his and he could well be right
but it literally is to chance rather than definite

I’m not in UK, but we have a 0.05 limit for full license drivers. With that limit, while individuals vary, the rule of thumb is men should keep to no more than 2 standard drinks in the first hour, and can have one per hour after that. Women are one per hour. Of course, if you are a 5’ lightweight, or haven’t eaten for several hours, you probably want to err on the more conservative side and decrease that.

I’m in Scotland with a lower limit so he would def be over the limit. No one I know has even one pint here now, we just don’t drink and drive at all. It’s removed a lot of that social pressure of “oh just have the one” which is great.

I loathe drunk drivers - it’s the epitome of selfishness to me. Endangering not only his family’s life but completely innocent others he may take down with him.

It’s not controlling to point out he’s risking everyone’s lives, his licence, his job possibly too.

He sounds deeply immature.

I would never, ever get into a car by myself, let alone with a baby with anyone driving who has had a single drop of booze within a close enough period of time for it not to be out of their system.

Stand your ground, the man is a total fuckwit.
