To keep DD off school tomorrow?

DP normally does the school run but tomorrow he has to be somewhere early so will be leaving the house at 6am.
To get DD to school I would have to leave at 7:30am, get a bus (full of people going into the city for work) with 7 yr old DD, 3 yr old DS and 4week old DS2 (in his buggy, on a rammed bus), get off this bus in town, get a nother bus (a shitty little thing that is full at2pm let alone 8am) to the school, and then do the return journey.

I do this journey everyday at home time, but don't mind doing it then because it's nowhere near as busy and I don't leave until 2pm, to have me and three DC's ready tomorrow on time I'll be having to get up about 5am!

She's worked hard doing her SAT's all last week so I don't think one day will be a big thing, or should I make more of an effort and do this nightmare journey to take her?

So what did you end up doing VS? Hope you took the day off hun!

VictorianSqualor · 19/05/2008 12:24

She stayed home, I called her teacher(the class teacher calls back if you call about absence) and explained and she was fine.

It isn't her choice not to go though, is it? So that makes it clear she can't choose but she is seeing that Mum can. I wouldn't keep her off but that is just me and I don't have the journey you describe.

Would you keep her off every time your Dh couldn't do it?

If the teacher is fine then no biggie!

Learn to drive!

NAB, This is the first time eh ever hasn't been able to take her, he normally starts work at 9am but this morning had to be in a different town for his police training thingy at 8am so had to leave our house just after 6am.
Any later and I'd have sent her to a friends house first(she normally goes to her best friends house between 8-8:45am), but I wasn't sending her round someone's house at 6am!

I was just interested. I wasn't having a go and I missed the fact you had had a section. Hope the scar is healing okay. I know we wouldn't had had the same response from our Head if I had kept a child off because I couldn't get there. Mind you, I am going right off our HM.

VictorianSqualor i think you should give yourself a break, one day off school will not harm anybody. You only has a CS 4 weeks ago, i know i wouldnt be ready for a hectic journey after 4 week of a natural birth let alone a CS.

I really honesyly think that if keep her home no one will judge you. Its only the once and im sure if it happens again you will be more prepared and not recovering after a CS to be able to manage. Have a nice day at home, i would!
